Modern monitors don't need them, so why would anyone use one? They're obsolete.

Nope. I've got mine set to put the display to sleep after sitting idle long enough instead of using a screensaver.

Huh, kinda surprised at the answers. I do use one...not needed, but I like it anyway and I've had it a good many years, so...

Last time I used them was in like 2006 when I would log into all the school computers and set up a scrolling text screensaver with some obscene messages O:-)
