How often do you cook, every day or several times a week?
I admire that commitment and the variety of things you create.

Usually I cook one to two times a week, enough food to last for the week. Which is why I mainly prefer casserole type dishes that make a large amount of food and keeps well in the fridge.

Now that's really inviting comfort food!
Can I change my order to two of those. ^^

This thread made me want some, so I'm making this recipe this weekend. Beef instead of lamb, though, so I guess it's technically cottage pie.

Caught this on Youtube this morning, and thought of this thread.

I'm going to send you my personal Cottage Pie recipe (chance are that you actually made Cottage Pie, not Shepherd's pie, unless you had some mutton laying around 😏). It's slightly non-traditional, but once you try it, you'll never go back. Yes, I'm proud of it. lol
Thanks for yet another GA

Oh I didn't know there was a difference. Wikipedia says they are the same thing :P
But yes, I made mine with ground beef

They're the same thing unless you're Irish or Scottish, and then it counts for something (my Mom's a redhead, so you can do the math 😀😉). Shepherd's Pie is made with mutton or lamb, Cottage Pie is made with beef. The former is Irish and the latter is English. The Irish were more often shepherds, but most importantly they were poor and only had access to sheep's meat. Beef was expensive and mostly only available to the English, who were the wealthy ruling class.
So, when you make it with beef (like I do too :) ), it's Cottage Pie for anyone who knows the fine point of difference. But you're right...in most restaurants, the terms are used interchangeably, but it can be a cultural sore spot if you mess it up in the wrong crowd (kind of like knowing when to order a Black & Tan vs. a Half & Half, depending upon the pub and which side the clientele may have potentially sided with during The Troubles).
But yeah, we need to jump on IM on Steam and I'll get you a link to my doc where I keep the recipe. Always happy to chat with and help out a fellow foodie. 😎👍
BTW, how is it possible that you didn't already have a blue heart from me? Well crap, I just fixed that. 😏

Homemade Shepherd's Pie (after baking)
And with a piece out. I'm not sure why I took that picture, but not of an actual slice...
