I heard UDONTPLAY+ is free too, but it's not limited to a week.

Haha! But it's a good way to get some easy uplay points of games you don't own and don't want to buy, those points can be used on games you do play or the 20% coupon whenever. Unfortunately, points have an expiry of two years or sth so only get the points if you need em, otherwise another trial period or free weekend will come along.

The 20% can be used on top of any ongoing sales - only at uplay store ofc. I've used it to buy dlcs.

There was a bug last week that made some games/dlc stupid cheap

I've used the 20% coupon twice now during sales, lowering the price for all-time lows even more is brilliant..
I think I used the first one for farcry primal(not sure about price, but definitely less than a fiver) and the second for "albion" (very old game, but LOVED it when I first played - less than a euro).

xbox game pass is good value i think. I subscribed for about 6 to 9 months on and off. If it's games you just want to play once and dont care to own it.

They already control almost everything, shady EULAs, all your games/accounts/info are theirs, and we all just take it.

Steam has been around for how many years, and still people don't realise that's basically what it is: a pay-per-game sub.

I think at this point almost everyone understands games on steam are merely subs, but at least you dont need monthly fees for those "subs"..

You would be surprised at how many actually don't understand the concept of Steam and how it works and that the games bought on there don't actually belong to them. :)

Then that means they didn't read ToS in first place.

I'm just curious about why people complain about subscriptions. If you want, you can still buy the standalone game, subscriptions make it even cheaper to get that game + tons of others
edit: I got into a blacklist for this comment lol

Because they always need something to complain about.

Because game subscriptions eventually change the way we are used to playing games. Personally I like having each game on my launcher tied to my account. Paying monthly fee to play games and when I stop paying I dont get the games anymore doesnt seem very good deal when over the years you are used to having games tied to account.. I much prefer paying nothing for a year if my finances doesnt allow that but I can still play all of my games that I have bought previously..

What people dislike, in my opinion, is the fact that this is easy money for the company - they dont have to issue licences anymore. They have players who are paying no matter what and they have constant flow of money.... Which could just as well push out the market that lets us buy individual games.. That is speculation of course, but there are reasons why people dislike this..

I personally really dislike the fact that you are tied to them by your bank account and you have to constantly feed them... I really dislike humble monthly and now choice due to that. It's a good deal and I am a subscriber but that doesnt change the fact that I can dislike the system and prefer standalone bundles (and game subscriptions) if i want.
