Whazze, they have all the right to ban you for whatever reason they feel like it; it's in their terms of use that you and everybody else has accepted that they will disable your account without prior notice deem they find it suspicious.

b/c those same people have abused charity to do it. 50/hib = 50 accounts and with sam it's like over 500 coal. in most countries they've broken two laws.

They HAVE to be banned or disqualified, as they would be in legal hot water if they didn't. Also, I don't know how you can justify giving people an unfair advantage unless you are farming yourself, in which case I hope this thread becomes a giant honeypot. . . .

Because...they ran the gift pile out of non-Valve games and made the great giveaway barely worth entering? I doubt Valve has picked up on all of them. The giveaway would have been so much better if cheating people hadn't made things worse for the rest of us.

Although I agree that these people deserve temporary bans, I believe that it's illegal in many countries. The subscriber agreement doesn't override the law.

I think they get permanently disqualified from all future contests too.

While SAM doesn't get your account suspended as quickly as coal farming; it grants you a disqualification for the final draw. Steam will also reset all of your stats and prevent you from participating in future events case they find out you've been using any scripts or macro in order to complete the holiday objectives; which is stated in the rules.

i think no, because its only 1 account, 2 coal, so if you get banned, you can say that it was your gf that sent to you, but others make like 40 accounts and send them to their profile.

If Valve couldn't tell the difference between coal farming and friends giving coal to each other, they wouldn't have made the damn stuff tradable. Give them some credit, will you?

I have the same issue. My mother has her own account that she only uses for Bejeweled. She got all the basic stuff, and gave it to me because... well, what else would she do with it? Bejeweled is about the most advanced game she can play, so if she won all of them, they'd only go to waste. As did everything else she won. But oh well.

My girlfriend lives with me and was connected by her netbook when she did it. But she has logged onto her steam account on my computer in the past.

Basically said he was trade banned for 10 weeks, and would be banned from all future steam promotions.

it's really really easy for valve to catch a coal farmer don't worry.

One IP address creating hundreds of accounts, adding them all as friends on one account, looking at the trade history seeing coal and coupons and games being sent all to one main account.

It's not about them getting games and other people don't. It's the fact that they exploited the system by creating multiple accounts and abused it, it's probably why on the last day they ran out of 3rd party games and coupons. They deserve to be banned. No mercy.
