Buying Dungeon Defenders: Eternity gives me free gift of Dungeon Defenders Collection?

From what I've heard they've pretty much given up on DDE and am giving away the gift so folks won't feel cheated.

From what I read support for DD: Eternity was discontinued, so to say thanks (or sorry) they gave everyone who purchased Eternity the DD: Collection.
Edit: Still kinda feel it's a bit of a rip-off getting another copy of a game already owned... but nice gesture I suppose.

Ah I'm actually not too sure about that, since as far as I know it was gifted to those who already owned the game. It might pay to do a bit of googling or maybe try contacting the DD publisher and see. Maybe see if anyone posted in the Steam community discussions about DD:E or make your own post.

Edit: Also if I were you and you want a copy of DD:C to play I'd skip buying Eternity altogether, it was quite the disappointment. Even if you were to give it away or something, skip Eternity.
And don't forget Steam summer sale should be next month or so, so I'd hold out on buying either game since both will likely go on a pretty big or at least a semi decent discount.
