Well, if you assume that the summer sale starts when there's 0 game on sale it's quite possible but rare, games go on sale everyday, there's a weeklong sale, weekend sale, daily sale and mostly Killing Floor devs usually match their event releases with Steam.

HA HA. THAT IS WHERE YOU ARE WRONG! WHAT IF THE 11th IS WHEN THE SUMMER SALE ENDED
Comment has been collapsed.
steam sale will start when it starts, noone need to make topic about it

Headline: "Steam Summer Sale 2013 Starts Tomorrow"
Actual text: "The Steam Summer Sale is set to begin quite soon, possibly tomorrow"
I just love journalism.
Anyway, bundles can only show that sale is near but there is always at least a week before the sale starts. 11th seems to be more likely considering the KF event.

How does it matter? I can no longer express my opinion towards something unless I'm experienced in it? I've visited courses before, I know that journalists need a headline that makes me interested as a viewer. But I still don't like that idea of misleading headlines.

Of course you can. But you just painted a broad brush over an entire industry, suggesting that "journalism" is somehow reprehensible.
I agree with you on misleading headlines, to a point. If they are close to the point and intriguing, I have less of a problem with it. There is marketing in journalism, too, whether we like it or not.
I don't know what you do for a living, but would anyone find any problems at all with it if all your work was published publicly? Would we paint the entire industry as incompetent? Even if we hadn't one iota of experience in said industry?
I just get tired of the tired old criticisms of journalists and journalism from folks that have no idea how difficult it can be to be timely, accurate, compelling AND profitable. Most of the time with terrible compensation, because people who don't know how to write or report don't value writing and reporting. Yet everyone still reads the news. So amazing.
edit: To be clear, I have no problem with folks calling out inaccuracies in reporting. There are myriad reasons for those to occur and journalists should be held to that standard. However, what I often hear is an attacks on the journalists and their profession and not on their work. There is a huge difference.
A good publication (any honest business, actually) will also acknowledge their mistakes, correct them, and apologize appropriately. And FWIW, that's exactly what the writer in question (and their publisher) did.

These days journalism is more about flashy titles, and while I do admit that there are great journalists that do their job properly there are loads of others that do no research, misinterpret and misrepresent information and do everything possible to attract readers. The industry is not incompetent but it certainly has flaws, in my opinion.
I know it's a hard job. I might become a translator in future. Everyone likes to critize them for being inaccurate or not giving a crap. I know that, accept that and often agree. I just want to be better than them and be proud of my profession.

Good post. Well put and I agree.
Part of the problem, too, IMO, is that "journalism" is a term used too loosely nowadays. A blogger is not a journalist by training. There is a difference.
There is far more content online than there used to be centered in pillars of publishing. So there are also far more contributors that don't necessarily have the training or ethics standards that traditional journalism provided.
Not to say that traditional journos don't also screw up and go crooked. But standards do tend to be shared by most real journalists.

That's called a headline, followed by accurate reporting. Happens all the time.
Sometimes the writer doesn't even write the headline. In fact, often that's the case.
I love journalism bashing. Probably the worst combination of horrible pay, hard work, endless criticism from people who have no idea how to do their job, and pressure from the top down to make money.
Where else can the general public criticize your work when they have absolutely no idea how to do it, except in entertainment and sporting, both of which pay far better?

You forgot "dealing with obstinate editors who have ulterior motives."

Also, the writeup isn't bad, but the headline is terribly misleading, yes.

No it won't. Weekend Deals confirmed
Meaning it will start next week, on the 11th-22nd. Sorry guys.

No. Here, go look at the tweet in the context of the tweet before it. The "better" in this case is more like a statement of "that is a better guess"
Anyway it doesn't matter at this point since its pretty clear that the sale is next thursday, and not, you know, today.

A company posts a vague tweet about a possible sale for their titles in near future.
A fan responds saying that it is a sure sign that this company's getting a weekend deal.
A company replies saying that it will be better than a weekend deal.
Seriously, there's another tweet below "SUMMER SALE CONFIRMED" with the same backstory.

I already looked on the context. "Better" with a exclamation mark seems to indicate that it will be even better than a weekend deal. Which Im pretty sure it is. They will be the next humble bundle weekly. You can count on it ;)

If they are, they are pretty stupid. After everyone spent their saving buying games elsewhere to redeem on steam..
In my case, I don't even know if I'll buy anything else in the sale, I already bought a few games I had on my wishlist, so, no need for summer sale until proven wrong with a ass raping deal.

One that hurts badly and leaves a lasting negative impression?
What an analogy!

Dude, it was your analogy that was unsupportive of your statement. I agree completely with your statement in theory (TBD on whether it bears out that way).

Your English is very good. Trust me.
My wife is a writer and editor. And she has to wade through some truly terrible shit.
I was being serious. I just like the way it flowed. It was amusing, but not in a bad way.
edit: I'm also a bit punchy today, running on little sleep (daughter up a lot last night), so don't go start a career in comedy writing or anything on my word. But I dig your style.
