Secret hidden giveaway you won't find easily hahahah!

So, imagine this. Sliding doors open in front of you. Cool air from the AC gently touches your face. You push a cart in front of yourself. What would you usually put in?

(how often do you shop, do you go daily or take weekly/monthly trips, do you prefer supermarkets or smaller shops, do you know what you're getting upfront or just take a plunge of the deep end and see what yoo bought when you return home and so on)

Chocolates, lots of chocolates. Then the less essentials like eggs, flour, rice, ect.

Prefer large supermarkets tbh.

Bread.
Maybe some fruit if the available fruits aren't absolutely awful (which they commonly are in supermarkets, at least around here).
A chicken leg if there's absolutely nothing else to eat at home (which, at least at the place I go to, is also often awful and under-cooked... yeah, I'd need to be pretty desperate to get one <.< ).

And then whatever else my mom ordered for me to get. I'm more of an objectives type than a "look around and buy half of everything despite not needing it" type. :D

The place I go to most often is a sort of mini-supermarket. It is a local brand of "super"markets but not quite the big fat overpriced international supermarkets (which usually don't have better quality stuff anyway... feels like they dump all the low quality or near-expiration stuff here).
I go there whenever we're lacking something, so no real fixed schedule. :P
(PS: I don't actually use a cart unless I'm supposed to buy a lot of stuff. I usually just hold stuff in my hands. :P )

For groceries definitely hypermarkets. Usually one shopping trip per week. That's like 75% of what I spend on groceries, the rest, as needed, throughout the week in different stores (I leave in the center of town, so I have quite a choice of those).

In high season I do however get most of my fruits and veggies in local country markets, which I usually also visit once per week, but in winter it's usually veggies from hypermarkets and fruit from an excellent local greengrocer near me (owners of which own a very large apple orchard, and in addition to their apples sell mostly fruits and veggies grown by their neighbors).

I generally know, what stuff has best quality/price ratio in in different chains of hypermarkets. Also I know, what is their policy on discounts for products, that shortly will pass their validity date for selling. And in which departments it's worth to luck for unexpected discounts.

Including discounted stuff in the planned part, it's probably close to 80% planned, excluding it more like 50%.

I don't care too much about house appliances, so those I also often get in hypermarkets. Electronic goods, clothes and shoes I usually buy in different stores or online.

(so i can cast my vote, now, right?)

edit: a medium-sized supermarket, i'm made of "Esselunga" and kinda fanatical. i need at least an hour or so, whatever i need to buy. i read everything, i compare, i search the Internet, a think a little (like, 10 minutes) about best choice, then i put on cart.

it also often happens that after another ten minutes i change my mind and repeat steps above.
but, best thing i always try: make cashier smile. is like a mission for me :D

Weekly shop. Once a week is enough for me. I occasionally get a few extra bits for the weekend especially if am a planning a barbecue (summertime) but otherwise it might be the odd bits and pieces like fresh bread and treats for the weekend.

Once a week. And always have a list of what I want to buy mostly by checking what is on sale.

That saves me some cash.

I shop 5 days out of 7. I run a bed and breakfast. So I usually get the same items every shopping trip - breakfasty things like english muffins, jam, fresh fruit, eggs, coffee...

Hmm? Is this a common shopping behavior?

Head to the convenience store.
Six chocolate stick breads are 100 yen.
Peanut chocolate is 75 grams and 100 yen.
I wear a human skin once a week for a late-night snack and go shopping.

For other shopping, humanity brings with cucumbers.🥒😋

More weekly than monthly but sometimes bi-weekly, I guess. I usually go shopping when I run low on something. I make a list of things I might need and go to a bigger super/hipermarket. Then I can sometimes wander in the 'promo' area and check if there is anything that could pick my interest.

There's a supermarket in my block so I just go shopping whenever I need something, when you only need to walk 20m is easy to just do that. Actually since I moved to downtown everything is within walking distance, except college that's on the other side of the city.

I'm Northern Italian and I live on the hills somehow between two large cities, it takes almost half an hour to get to both of them but luckily both of them have two big supermarkets on their respective southern (Modena) and western (Bologna) boundaries, so in 20 minutes I'm there! I usually shop in those big supermarkets once a week, and I visit closer supermarkets whenever I need something.. in my town there are only few shops and in the nearby towns there are more Ferraris driving around and rental stores than grocery shops (seriously, I see at least 50 Ferraris while driving every day and there's not even a normal-sized supermarket!!) xD

Luckily there are two towns, one after Maranello (the infamous Ferrari one that borders my hometown) and the other one on the other edge of the river (the former boundary with the Papal States, it's still the same xD) that offer Esselunga and Carrefour nicely-sized supermarkets even if they're not that big as their cousins in the cities..
Traveling sometimes to Milan or Turin I see supermarkets 10 times big than mine but I prefer my life here =P

So all in all most weekly, sometimes two times a week if I need something, since in the big supermarkets they have everything I need! They have all automatic payments so no queues or such, I can go there whenever I can and they're always open. working everyday just like me =P
there are thousands of other options, every market has the online order thing (never tried, I wanna choose everything by myself xD), there are lots of smaller markets.. I often visit small shops, but not for food.. if we're talking about food and my main supermarket shopping is based on food these are my values =P

oh on the other side I LOVE watching videos of Italians/Europeans filming American supermarket.. they're su huge and weird, they sell ice packs, tons of things named after Italian recipes which aren't Italian, giga-sized everything, products that we have in 2 flavours they have them in 20.. there are milk boxes that could be used as fuel tanks for trucks.. haha it's so weird xD

oh well I forgot to mention that here in Italy we have lots of biological shops that sell like vegetarian things and whatever and we often go there too, they're all small but really awesome and super healthy! =P I'm totally not sure about the direct translation biologico (IT) to biological (EN) and I can't make an example right now .. so I hope you english speakers say biologico too xD

and a shopping list app on my phone, that's fundamental! years ago I used to write down everything small on notepads and cut off the parts as I was going through the market.. it was a nightmare =P

I think it might be "organic" but could also be that you mean of something else?

thanks a lot for your reply and your time, now I've got some more minutes to do a little bit of research! I don't know why but I've never wondered how "biologico" translates in this case to English.. (needless to say, we also have "organico" in Italian but it's used mainly in scientific things..)..
well, I found out that it's the right word! organic farming is what we call "agricoltura biologica", and in these small shops they sell only "bio" products, i.e. "organic" =) thanks!

here examples from contexto - that's 100% what I wanted to say =P well yeah the English have "biological" and similar terms too but for some reasons we diverged =P

Daily and trying to get fresh things (fruits and vegetables). Supermarkets and discounters only. Planning ahead is pretty much what we do.

I only go once a week and what I usually buy includes tons of fruits and vegetables (incl processed stuff like for example potato dumpling dough), bread, oats, and soy yoghurt. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Obviously some chips or sweets here and there but yeah.
also, ngl, that poll totally made me feel obligated to comment, so I did
