I got one or two from Garry's Mod and one from Super Monday Night Combat, I'd say that Garry wouldn't insert trojans to his game.

He would, remember the 4/20/14 Source hack? It happened this year and any source based game could write any amount of files to anywhere on your PC. Steam advised reinstalling all source games to ensure there wasnt any extra data from this small window. It was a serious deal and Steam also advised virus scanning your whole PC after they announced it.

It was in the news feed for Garry's Mod in Steam, Professor.

A week ago Antivir told me that Steams(beta) GameOverlayUI.exe is a virus. Just ignore the false positives.

Off-topic here, how was the game now? When I first bought it (around July last year, I think) I didn't really enjoy the game. Now that it's officially released is there any new features or something?

If its from a Contagion update then its definitely not a virus. I'm a monochrome playtester, so I help out and chat to them from time to time. I suggest posting on the community forum of the game, Contagion Dev's and mods are active.

edit: I dont think steam even uses the folder Steam, SteamApps, Downloading anymore?
