The game is split up into a series of "sections", depending on at which stage of evolution you are, starting as a single celled organism, wandering the land, forming tribes, becoming an advanced civilization and finally going out into space. So quite ambitious stuff, the problem is simply that none of them are fun, and feel very shallow and simplistic. Designing your creatures is fun, but sadly none of the gameplay is, and what's worse, the game actively punishes you for trying to design a creature "your way", as different "parts" give different stat bonuses, and putting more than one of the same part does not give any bonuses. So a 6-armed creature is just as good as a 2-armed, but you still need to "pay" for each set of arms. And when you're not designing a creature, you just have to deal with some really dull and uninspired gameplay.

The game is divided into five eras. Unfortunately, to accomplish this, they essentially made five games of (of varying quality, but mostly OK to terrible) instead of one good game. The eras are too distinct, so they each had to be made from scratch - you essentially have a bad action-RPG, a bad RTS, a bad strategy game, and finally a bad space adventure.
Worse, the connections between most of the eras are pretty slender (especially later on), leaving you with little sense that you're actually tracing the development of one particular organism / species and undermining the entire point of the game.
That saiiiid, $3 is pretty low. I actually bought it myself to have it on Steam. While it is a seriously flawed game, it's still worth playing a bit just for the uniqueness value.

If you mean because this was not delivered, then I 1,000% agree.

Not a bad price I suppose. I've been meaning to try it out for years, so I'll probably grab it.

It's a fun game overall, but the overwhelming feeling for those of us who followed it before its release is disappointment, because it could have been SO much better.

I've always looked at this game but the price was quite high for me. But this seems like a very good deal.
