You can already set the taskbar to the left in settings.

Edit: I thought you ment icons first. But you ment drag the entire taskbar to whereever you want?

For me it would certainly still be an issue, because I don't want to use outside programs for basic functionality, even if only because new updates to Windows can anytime break them.

I been using classic shell to get much of the old windows look back in windows 10, and it never failed on any update.

I am sure similar other programs could do the same, though in the end you never can be too sure.

i installed 11 in a VM and immediately was disappointed. Yes, I can get Start back in the corner, but doesnt look like any way to pin the tiles like in 10 (I keep my stuff in categories), no way to remove that lame "recommended" area so its just a waste of space. And worst, no apparent way to change the taskbar to not stack (so the words show up next to the icon). That's a major dealbreaker when I'm working on multiple windows of the same program.

Good thing I'm on a 7th gen i5 they don't officially support, I'll just stay on 10 until (if) they fix this mess, either by Microsoft doing it or the 3rd party apps like this one or Winaerotweaker giving us our control to customize back.

According to this article it is possible to remove the Recommended section. Still, guess it's better to wait until Microsoft is pushing Windows 11 beyond puberty.

Wait, what? You can't set taskbar not to stack opened windows? That's beyond ridiculous.
