Diary was actually quite good. I have it on dvd.
Edit- Survival of the Dead, basically the continuation, isn't the best.

You are not the only one. The same thought passed through my mind when I first saw this thread.

One could laugh how zombie flicks are all the same, like how boring they became, but nonetheless zombie subgenre revolutionized whole horror genre as it is. Not to mention massive influence it had for our own favoritue medium - gaming - zombies created or influenced whole game genres. I cannot think of a single original modern idea that would be more influencial to the genre than zombies. No other flick that was not present previously in older widely known novels (so excluding vampires, ghosts etc which were present in our culture long before cinematic era), gained such following like zombies did. It's sad to see one of the fathers of the moders horror go. May he rest in peace and hopefully never come back.

George Romero, the father of the modern zombie genre, has died today at the age of 77.
When I think back at all his work, be it the living dead movies (not the Return series) or his other movies like The Crazies, I am filled with nostalgia and wonder. I loved ALL his movie and even have most of them on DVD. Including the originals and remakes of the Living Dead such as Night (Need the dvd of the original as I have the remake only), Dawn and Day.
Thank you for all the years of entertainment, my friend. It's a sad, sad day for the entertainment industry.
You will always keep a special place in my heart. Farewell, good sir.
