You can get games and a lot of stuff from it. I was HUGE on teh TF2 market I made over $175. Up until Gabe put that new darn update :(

I'm guessing it's the anti-idle update, or something. I think you have to access your inventory every time you get an item to be eligible for another drop or something like that. It basically made it so that all of the idlers couldn't sit in an idle server overnight and get drops while they slept.

The only way to acquire tf2 keys is to buy them.
They cost $2.50 in steam store but you can find sellers for around $1.50 or lower and the price of them in the market is around $2.00
They are used to open crates which can give you exceedingly rare items that cost a lot of money.

$1.50 or lower? Not a chance with the current market price of $2.40 a piece

There have been some pretty crazy price rises recently. Last time I checked they were around $2.40 - barely a few cents cheaper than buying them from the TF2 store.

It's just a form of currency. People want keys for the same reason people want money

you just need to have crates that are obtained when you play TF2. but dont even think about opening them, there is a really low probability of getting a rare and valuable item

You can buy crates on the Steam market as well, but it's not a good gamble.

not really no, you can trade for said items with games, keys, and then probably sell this item for money if you are not a heavy tf2 player.

So they're everywhere and it's kinda the currency on steam trades, am I right? But what are they? When I wanna make a trade i'm just like alright fuckit ill buy them and trade. But what are they used in? Why is everyone so eager in acquiring them? If I make the trade, what is the purpose of having it as a non-tf2 player?
Thanks!
(I will delete the thread as soon as i get a good answer)
THANK YOU ALL
