I don't know if it's what I would call a "necessity", but I was just thinking about this myself earlier.
For now, I just hide the games until I get a headset, then I'll un-hide them.

I have a few of the better ones wishlisted for when I do get a headset, but I don't enter for them yet, so I'm most definitely not opposed to your idea -- I'd rather not have to hide the ones I have wishlisted, but I also don't want to enter for them until I get a headset, and your idea would solve both issues for me.

I don't know how common a problem that is, though.

I wouldn't say it's a problem, but it would certainly make it easier for me too if there was a different section. I don't know if or when I would get a headset, so it would be convinient if I could just not look at the whole section instead of having to hide them one by one...

I was actually thinking why it would be necessary to hide VR giveaways unless you just enter without looking at what you enter (not saying that's what you do, heh). I generally only have a few games I enter giveaways for at the time, so I just ignore anything else in the process. :P

Yeah, definitely makes sense. I'm always for positive improvements to the website.

It's unlikely that I'll ever get a VR headset, but that's what I'm doing too.
Only minor worry is going through the hidden list to unhide everything. It would have been simple if all VR games had "VR" in the title, except there are plenty of exceptions too.

I just set every VR game I come across to hidden.

I think this is a great idea, very much needed since I definitely can't afford one right now so I don't want to hide the games to unhide them in the future.

Also, can you do giveaways for videos/movies? Since thats a popular thing on steam atm to add. That may be another section to consider.

There should always be an option to filter VR games out. I am 100% for.

I'd rather add an option to hide VR tagged games in the GA option screen (where you can access your hidden games right now) instead.
Your second screen would just make sense if people would look for VR games and nothing else.
I just hide those games manually right now

Definitely don't like the idea of the extra button on top of page. I'm fine with the option on the sidebar, but that doesn't really make sense either - this option would only filter VR games to this category, but VR games would still show up everywhere else unless the website is designed to do otherwise, in which case the entire sidebar would be a bit misleading in its functionality.

As for the general idea of having this option, I'm not against it but I don't care for it either way. There aren't enough to bother me, although that may just be because I don't browse public giveaways.

It would be convenient to have.

It would be good if I could auto-ignore all VR games like I do on Steam.

^This. Auto-ignore the same way the DLC GAs of not owned games are. This way you can either turn it on or off.

I would love that

I have an alternative solution for those of us who use the Hidden Games feature.
Why can't we just add App IDs on that page?

That would be far simpler than adding another section.

This or something similar. Due to the now regular VR bundles by IndieGala there are often GAs for them. And not every game title includes "VR".

Would adding a category really solve your problem? Browsing All means All giveaways. Clicking on Virual Reality would just show all games that supports VR.

A better sollution would be to have better filtering options like to uncheck VR, software and certain groups etc to be visible from All section.

I'm sure the majority of people that win VR games don't even own a damn headset... yay +1! Anyway, wouldn't mind such a feature, because then I wouldn't have to hide them.

Filtering GA's by categories/their respective Steam tags would be a neat feature, but I doubt that the implementation of such would be that easy, since it would mean creating a list of your own or referencing said Steam tags, which are sometimes random at best, to be polite. Even Steam itself doesn't get it right, excluding some tags fucks up my explore queue on a regular basis and doesn't prevent me from having to click through countless games I'm really not interested anyway... but tbh I mostly enter wishlist GA only and the few VR GA's I've stumbled across had a remark concerning this matter already in their description or in one of the comments (or one could easily visit the Steam page of the game itself and find out quickly), so I'm not that deep into the matter.

Not saying that such a feature wouldn't be cool since the amount of GA's is overwhelming at times and through SG I found many games I otherwise would never have heard of, so have at least another bump besides my nonsense input :x.

but then people can claim make a part for most tags.
maybe it can be added to the OS filter in the options.

This would be convenient as a VR user. I try to search "vr" which brings up some, but not all of it of course..

Personally I wouldn't like the complete separation of them from the rest of giveaways. Like there's no separate section for software for example(not even a game so even more reason to).
I do agree that a way to easily identify them though would be nice. Maybe adding an extra icon along the Store/Search/Hide buttons indicating that this is a VR game would be nice.

How about a checkbox if VR-games should be filtered out?

There are a lot of VR-enabled games that have regular input options as well though and this is not always obvious. More filtering options are nice but the input needs to be accurate as well and I fear most are not going to make the extra effort required.
