1) You should not create a giveaway if you're unsure if the key is used.

2) Your user name is the name you used when you signed up for the site, it does not reflect your Steam name.

If that is a retail copy (i mean a physical disc) the key pretty much won't work on Steam (even if no one used it) so if i were you i wouldn't take the risk.

Edit: Oh i just realized the "not at a store", still if you are not sure it's not used don't take the risk.

Most of physical copies that got keys on it won't work, just Valve titles and some special ones.

I got myself a long collection of retail games which i tried activating it's keys on Steam and didn't work (such as Splinter cell titles, Sacred, Hitman, Need for speed, etc), from my whole collection only Half Life and Bioshock 1 and 2 worked.
