"Renowned adventurer Adol “the Red” Christin and his companion Dogi arrive at Balduq, a city annexed by the Romun Empire, only for Adol to be detained before setting foot inside. While imprisoned, he meets a mysterious woman named Aprilis who turns him into a Monstrum, a being with supernatural Gifts and the power to exorcise monsters. Now, Adol must ally with his fellow Monstrum to fend off the fearsome threats emerging from a shadowy dimension called the Grimwald Nox, as well as unravel the mysteries of the Monstrum curse, and the truth behind the unrest within Balduq."

The size feels small at 6gb, and when you run it for the first time, on top of the windowed mode, it says Steam Enabled | GOG inited (lol)...
If you own (and played) Celceta and / or Lacrimosa you can also gain 2 items from the start when it finds your savegames.
The Digital Deluxe version might be enough for most people, but if you go for achievements and atleast nightmare diffculty, having the consumable DLC might be very handy and could save you a lot of grinding, but it's still very pricey offcourse for what it is.

Seems there is also a big difference in regional prices for people.
If you get it from Fanatical you can get 18% off (should be automatic or use code FANATICAL18), plus you are eligible to pick for a free game from 6 choices (Pure Farming 2018, Call of Juarez or Mystery game and some others).

I meant it in the sense that it may get even more expensive.

Oh, well seems they are already getting enough angry people as it is about the pricing, hope they are smart, we will have to see.

Think you do might miss out on preorder stuff though after next week.

When reading the first line (okay, I quickly overflew it) I needed to check if you're actually writing in English...

Ultimate edition is pointless to buy anyway, it's just consumables which I think aren't necessary unless you're playing on harder difficulties. I'm surprised Fanatical has a better discount than Humble lol, Humble choice discount sucks ass now for Nisa titles.

I'm gonna grab the deluxe edition, but I'll wait a bit to see what site has the best offer. GMG might have a 20% off msrp deal or something soon and I'd get 2% off with rakuten

I haven't looked at the achievements of Ys 9 yet, but all the other ones had them for nightmare modes, and they really are a nightmare, and with Ys 8 those consumables really came in handy atleast (although i got them cheaply through humble or it would have taken a long time of grinding) The current price it's way too expensive i agree, but if you can get a nice discount on it.

There is a limited time on preorder bonuses though they say, i dunno if future keys from such sites would include them, that is if in case you care for them at all offcourse.

Yeah if you're doing nightmare it might be worth it. For Ys 8 I used a mod that added the pirate/beachwear outfits which also added all of the DLC consumables so I ended up getting them anyway without needing to purchase, although I haven't played through the harder difficulties yet so I never ended up using the consumables. I would've bought the costumes for Ys 8 but they're exclusive to Vita/Switch. Personally I think the Ultimate edition is too much for just consumables and I doubt I'll play on Nightmare or whatever the highest difficulty is. I mainly care about cosmetics so deluxe is good enough for me

Be glad you don't got that achievement OCD and can skip nightmare, some bosses really get insane, and then there is also even a boss rush mode (and it's achievements) when not even consumables or grinding even helps anymore, you just need to be be/get good. :x

You weren't kidding about the regional pricing. Argentina equal to USA, while russia is leading at nearly 70% off.
The forum is full of salt.

Milking the customers....

Each one that pay so much for a game is rich, haven't other expenses or isn't very smart.

For me it's the last two i think, thanks.

Joke's slightly on them though because i got the 18% off.

Lets be honest though, there are so man companies that do it, only Falcom presents it as a neat steam bundle so we can easily see how much everything would be total.

:-D

Nah sorry, i avoid such prices like the devil the holy water as someone believe into that.
Companies will never learn what's ok and what isn't if people not teach them with their money purse.

There aren't enough smart people in the world for them to ever make them do that. :p

:P But Ys are good games!, although i am worried with the 6gb vs 20+gb on Ys 8, makes it feel like it's lacking things or shorter, really hope not. Reviews elsewhere from previous consoles were good atleast.

It's shorter from what I've heard. It's 20+ hours for the main story and Ys VIII was 30+. But the original version of Ys VIII (on Vita I think?) didn't have as much content as the PS4/PC versions did. More content later got added when it came to PC/other consoles which could explain why Ys IX is shorter

But isn't it already been awhile on ps4? They aren't ones to add DLC with more story later, only DLC's were consumables and extra's, 20 hours is still not bad, but that even justifies the big price even less.

I mean... we shall find out in due time XD I think the last Ys title I played was actually on PSP, so this will be my first time playing on PC. Whenever I get a chance to get started I'll let you know! Then again, by the time I finished it you might have found out yourself haha.

That is my backlog on top of what i already had. :P And 6 Final Fantasies coming.
But i think Ys 9 i will play right away, i tried 30 minutes yesterday starting in a jail, it felt very linear and empty so far (you couldn't interact much with a person or items), hope it gets better when you get out.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/254476-ys-ix-monstrum-nox/79274260 This doesn't bode well but i think the differences for people is with what difficulty they play offcourse it's a breeze on easy, and while nightmare was the hardest in the other parts, there now is even inferno and lunatic (luckily no achievements for them).

https://nl.ign.com/ys-ix-monstrum-nox-nintendo-switch/128539/review/ys-ix-monstrum-nox-review (its dutch) but basically says it's more of the same and 8 had a wider world, 9 takes places mostly in the town and it's (sober) dungeons, they say it's more of the same, which isn't bad, and there are plenty of collectibles, but nothing new or innovating atleast.
But on Metacritic it gets an 80, so that isn't bad at all, someone else says it's the best Ys ever.

Ah and the very very first one on pc with that soundtrack. I tried asking Falcom if they somehow could put it in on steam too but no response. :(

I shudder at the thought of my backlog. It has only grown since my hardware went belly-up XD So I'm clearly an idiot for buying more but how can I pass up on deals and limited time stuff amirite. One day, surely, I will play an review it all. A girl can dream sob

Well others buy booze or cigarettes atleast this is healthier and you get good stories with most games so it's really very intellectual too. ;)

Yeah we have to strive to become atleast a hundred years old. I read a few weeks ago technically we could live to be 250 years, so there is hope.

I've always referred to my pastimes as anti-drugs, because how could I afford any of that crap when I blow all my money on games and stuff, haha.

I do wanna live a long healthy life, but sometimes losing faith in humanity makes me wonder if the 'long' part is worth it. Maybe I'll just play steam games in the after-life instead. I mean, after I make it to the finish line. No rage-quitting the game called life XD
