Is this version of Ticket to ride any good? I loved the other versions

I'm a big board game player, but I've honestly never played this version because Classic still works. That said, I'm still going to pick this up...

Yes! I play singleplayer only, and it's a lot of fun -- to the point where I don't even play the Classic version anymore (although I still have it installed).

I've read that there are some occasional problems with multiplayer but the developer seems to be pretty responsive to issues.

Not all DLC is there.

The one missing is Germany, which was just released in December. I guess it's too new to be included in the bundle.

GMG was selling the Ticket to RideĀ®: Round the World Ticket DLC which includes the missing Germany expansion and all the other ones (minus the Winter Wonderland cosmetic DLC) for $16.79 as of yesterday.

So I don't really get the point of this "bundle".

If you don't own the new version of TTR, this isn't a horrible price, but yeah it is a bit odd. I think they'd have been better off charging ~$20 and including Germany.

That is interesting, I didn't know the Round the World Ticket was discounted. I bought it quite some time ago and I have no regrets.

Seems like they have removed regional pricing in my country since the RPG bundle

My frustration with this game is they took down Ticket to Ride: Classic Edition to release this one. The Classic Edition was being retired due to an outdated game engine, which is understandable. However, when they released this version, they removed the classic artwork from the classic boardgame in favor of more "modernized" graphics. Furthermore, anyone who purchased the previous version, would have to purchase this version to continue playing & receiving updates.

Different publisher. Twin Sails Interactive did the old one and they handle meaty board games (Gloomhaven, Terraforming Mars, Blood Rage, etc.), and Marmalade did the new one and they really focus on jazzing up simple childhood games (Clue, Battleship, Life, etc.). Just wildly different priorities from the studio involved. I'm assuming the Asmodee buyout of Days of Wonder had something to do with it also, even though that happened a few years earlier.

This type of complaint has been all over the discussion forum for this game. But there is no "they." Or more accurately, there are multiple "theys."

The publisher made the decision to transfer the rights from one developer (Twin Sails) to another (Marmalade). So the complaint about "taking down Classic" should be directed to the publisher. (Although Classic can still be played in singleplayer mode).

Marmalade did make the decision to use different graphics. To me that's understandable. They want to make it their own. It's still certainly recognizable as Ticket to Ride.

And yes, of course this version has to be purchased separately. Because it's a new game, by a new company. Think of it like Call of Duty. Do you get this year's Call of Duty free just because you bought last year's Call of Duty? No, because they're two different games, made by two different developers. Marmalade is a for-profit business, so they are not going to give away their product just because customers spent money on a different product 5 years ago. (And actually to their credit, they did give away the Europe DLC to people who owned the previous game, which they really did not have to do).

But i own the old game with almost all DLC and Ticket to Ride to is an easy board game (so no astonishing sound/graphic) and i will not pay another $20 for the same game.

Sure, everyone gets to make their own decisions about how to spend their money. No argument there.

(For me, it was an easy decision and it's been absolutely worth it. The new game already has multiple maps that the old game did not have: San Francisco, Heart of Africa, and Japan. And they are listening to their customers, which the old developer didn't really do. So I expect even more 'new' maps, which is awesome).

But look at the reviews and the discussion forum for both games. They are filled with people blaming one or both developers, instead of taking a minute to understand that the publisher is making the decisions.

I have a little bit of a pet peeve about blame being assigned inaccurately, so it's been a bit frustrating.

there is some temptation, but none of my board gaming group have this version... and its a little pricy for all the dlc.

Like PoeticKatana said, it's about the same price as the "Round the World" DLC bundle when it's on sale. So not horrible, but certainly not great and not necessary if you play solo and have all of the maps for Classic. I almost bought the Round the World last week, so I figured I'd go ahead buy today and maybe GMG will get some better bundles...

don't have the classic version myself, odds are I would never get to it anyways... ticket to ride is enjoyable... but when you play with a group of experienced board gamers its pretty never hitting the table.

The old version was one of my most played games, and we were disappointed also when they closed, but our group is considering buying it.
