Wanna show off your typing skills or improve your typing speed? Well here's the event for that.
So how will this work? Participants can have an unlimited number of tries on this, and when you're happy with an attempt you, post the replay in the comments here. To access the replays, go into your history page (if it does not show up then you will need to sign up first, I think) and your replay history will be there, the WPM and accuracy will be recorded there as well. Here is an example of a replay. You can always update your scores when you become faster. Happy typing!
Please submit your scores in this format:
-| Username | WPM | Accuracy | [Link](link to replay*)
*Your replay link should look something like this: https://data.typeracer.com/pit/result?id=%7Ctr:username%7Cnumber
If your link looks like this: https://data.typeracer.com/pit/result?id=|tr:username|number
then please change both | to %7C since the | will break the table. (Thank you Andrew with a lot of e.)
links that are not formatted is because it breaks the table
Rules are subject to be added and/or changed.
There is no end date for the contest yet, but if there is it will likely be some time before the end of the year.

Well that was quick...
Pack it up boys, contest is over.
That is beyond impressive!
Hey, I added a rule that requires you to submit a submission that is made during the period of the contest (22/9/20 onwards). Sorry for the inconvenience!
I'm terrible, 55 wpm at 98.9% and that's good for me. I expected around 35-40wpm.
Good luck to those who enter!
My average typing speed right now (last ten races) is 55 wpm as well! *high five* Practice makes perfect I guess...
I feel you, I'm in the 60-ish range... Not even in the same ballpark as the current leader ;)
Here is mine; click | 69 WPM | 97.9%
I might try again later. Good luck to everyone.
hahahahaha*cry* - I blame using too many different keyboards throughout the day. ;)

I was a guest on my first go so this is my second :3

It can really depend on what you have to type, this is much more representative of my actual WPM because it has more punctuation and has more words.

I hear you. I had one run with a couple of names in it I had never even heard before (one of which was "Nicasia").
i suck at typing, couldn't get past 30 wpm :D

I tried to type in Portuguese and they tought I was cheating lol
I guess i could do better if English was my native language.
English only this time, sorry. Some languages are easier to type than others, (but yes there are also languages that are way harder to type than English I know)
It's a good point, it seems fair to me. ^^
I'll keep trying to see if i get a better result, probably not lol
Oh my god, I'm sooo bad at this, but I'll enter anyway. If I can't be the fastest maybe I can be the slowest. 🤣

A lot of us slower people probably won't even try.
I suck at this XD

So close... well, I've only made a few attempts yet, I might improve it once I've given my fingers a rest! Didn't expect to be in the upper percentile though 😄
Oh wait, I just noticed that I'm at least the top newest submission, even if you added the rule retroactively 😋 Thanks for hosting this contest! Finally something I'm good at.

What's wrong? I'm sorry it hurts to type.
I don't know what to say. I'm glad you're used to it, but I wish you didn't need to be.
I can sympathize as my dad has it. Thankfully celebrex helps somewhat with the joint pain/inflamation but I know it doesn't work for everyone.
xD I can imagine her confusion, just as I empathize with your frustration!
https://data.typeracer.com/pit/result?id=|tr:thenthomwaslike|1 42WPM 96.7% accurate
Ok, I give up. I was able somehow to reach 60 in training mode, probably by pure luck. But it's the best I can do in the actual race.

I should be able to do better.
I dislike when you make an error that a red box pops up explaining your error, because it makes it difficult to fix the mistake.
Can I re-calibrate my score after I enter?
Yes, you can update your scores after you enter.
How should I go about updating mine? Should I post a completely new reply at the bottom, or should I reply to my previous one, or reply to you?
Just post a completely new reply and say something like update mine: in bold. This is because if you reply to you previous one it will not come into my inbox, although it'll make the comment section a little tidier ^^
My first two attempts were my best, it went downhill fast after that so I'll leave it at that 😅

Seems WPM result depend on luck a lot. Which text will be chosen: easier text, shorter words, lesser punctuation => better WPM.
Me better result after registration:

Yeah it's pretty funny going from a single sentence to a whole paragraph, but I love these typing games. I get a lot shakier the more I do it, so will prob come back again later. :)

Also hate the way it's handling mistakes, i even had a good text and my cursor went over to the ranking.
And it does really matter what text you get.
oh yeah, whatever text you get is huge. of course, for the race portion it doesn't really matter since everyone is typing the same thing, but for this leaderboard it can make all the difference. looks like the website gives a score based off the text you got, with more difficult ones giving higher scores even if you had slower wpm or more mistakes.
luckily this here is just for fun and we can play multiple times to choose our best times.
Yeah, but i was supposed to be so proud on my typing skills, i did a temp job on data entry once and had to get a certain wpm per minute and i believe i scored 120-140 back then, although I used gloves though (against sweaty hands) this time. Keyboard can also matter.
But I mean it was more fun and better if they just neglected your mistakes and let you continue, and then just count the mistakes in the end.
Anyway you put my name up twice, and there is cece with 80 above 83 scores.
Sorry I didn't see this in my inbox, fixed and fixed. :)
gotta be at least 5
Nah, my primary layout is Cyrillic, so no chances here, I'm obviously way too slow since I basically only type in English here and on Steam forums. Well, at least my accuracy is high enough.
Yeah even AZERTY layout make it harder.
Also, it's really odd having to read while you type. I'm a really fast typer and I don't need to look at my screen when I type so having to read at the same time is distracting. If it was an audio, it would be much much faster.
Probably wont make it to the top 10 with that score, but I think I am also not able to pull of much more than that

highest I got so far was 93 with 100% but it was literally
They don't know our world but they know their own.
and that took 3 attempts. It's like it know I cant do stupid '
Best im gonna get for now. Maybe i'll come to it later
