I don't believe there is anything you can do if the winner is unwilling to reach out and get it sorted. The key being in working order falls on the creator of the giveaway after all. I think this is the type of situation that makes folks create restrictions on their gibs though. Better to filter out as much of the headache as possible. On the bright side a 'not received' doesn't mean much on here unless you're getting them left and right. It's just a lesson learned type of deal really.

i know and agree if the key didn't work i should replace it or have agreed the giveaway to be cancelled but sadly i wasn't told it didn't work so i didn't have a chance to fix it
Comment has been collapsed.
Yup, it's a gamble with people sadly. Some folks won't give you the time of day to fix an honest mistake either. D:
Looks like a region issue rather than a bad key though. I hope the winner does reach out so the issue can be corrected! Or perhaps support will provide a solution when they get around to your ticket. I wish you the best in getting it resolved either way.

Is there anything I can do to get this removed
Yes, contact support and wait for a reply. You already opened a ticket so I'm not even sure what's the purpose of opening this topic

he agreed to delete the giveaway - what do i need to do now - thanks

yes i never have had this happen before so wanted to see if anyone else had this problem and if or how they got it solved

Sorry for your experience now but you can't do more as contacting the support and wait.
And for the future my advice to never create GAs without a level restriction (excluded WL or groups with a low ammount of members that you know or a group without black sheeps -= mine ;o) -).
That don't eliminate the problems completely but it lower them a lot.

This. I never post public GA's lower than level 2 anymore, due a multitude of strange behaviours from 0-, and 1-level users in the past - mostly ''key didn't work'' issues. It's funny how such issues just goes almost completely away at level 2 already... And I trust such issues more now as levelled users (mostly) shoot more straight.
Comment has been collapsed.
you are unfortunately right, its damaging the newbies experience who dont have acces to your GAs but its fully understandable to see contributors do this.
And fortunately these newbies have a solution : create GAs to reach 2+ lvl (not so hard) or join the beautiful, the grat, the magnificent Unlucky group or other newbie-friendly groups as PA.
The only difference with the past is you cant anymore come and leech as before, you're forced to contribute to get something and its finally a good thing.
I add the difference between 0 and lvl 1 is ridiculous. Any trash game drive you lvl 1

Yes, it's sad to exclude the nice ones on lower levels.
One tiny game get you to level 1. So each one should be able to do that when he is 1 year+ on this site.
https://www.steamgifts.com/stats/community/users (970k are level 0 and only around 165k have a level, 113k of them are level 1. So around 15% of the members from sg gave something and only 4% gave more as 5 games.)
But a lot come still around with the "i am poor" excuse but forget that they need to own a PC, a steam account with $100 worth in games and money for the elec. bills before they can enter sg.
I checked each one closer that claimed in the discussions that he is poor and a very high percentage of them had a better PC as i, the newest AAA games and a high ammount of csgo items/gems/keys or direct in their profile that they are very active traders.
I would describe each of them richer as myself
And i found exactly none that i would describe as poor.
The really poor ones don't come along with the "i am poor and can't give something" because the really poor ones share their little bit with other ones.
I know that very well from much life experience

Yes, the "key is dupe" situation i had only 2-3x with higher level ones after over 1400 GAs.
I do only a handful of public GAs below level 5 and i regret each time -as example in the community trains- when i do it because i have the "luck" to grab 50%-100% winners with infractions, extreme leechers (400:1 stats or such stuff), multiaccounters, autojoiners or people that i know they use multiple accounts on freebie sites to grab more stuff as allowed (and i really don't want that people that use 30 accounts + bots on multiple freebie sites get something from me ... if they are level 10 on sg or not -i am not allowed to name them here....-).
And today i filled my BL with the last needed one to have 1k there, only level 5 and higher -maybe 10-20 are below that level because of special reasons-, so in the end force me cg with his 1k BL limit to public GAs with level 5 if i don't want users in them that i see as BL worthy. And this is, each time, sad.
So both ways don't make me happy and that is the reason why i make "only" 10% public GAs and prefer to give something in my group where i can control before which ones have access to the GAs (i can set there level 0 without to have a problem with the winners and that feels great).
My group catched in the last months a good bunch of multiaccounters, the most of them were in the lower levels (0-3) but from time to time it hit a higher one too.
With each one that we catch, my motivation to give something on this site goes more down and my own group are the last try to have a safe area with only nice ones to raise my motivation -and other ones see the group as the same, a place to let the soul and the mind take a break and regenerate-. It's far from perfect, that is clear, but, for me, right now the only option to not lose the motivation complete and leave sg.

Did some snooping and I can at least tell you why the key didn't work; The fanatical key is region locked in the country on their steam profile.
So the key is fine. You just made a mistake.
I made that exact same mistake very recently. Although my winner was fantastic; contacted me and offered to let me reroll. Fortunatly the steam store version was region free so it worked out fine for both of us.

oh thanks didn't know it was region locked - still would have expected them to tell me this before hand

Website FAQ:
What happens if I create a giveaway and the winner is unable to activate the gift in their region?
If you setup the giveaway with the appropriate region restrictions, and the winner was outside of those regions due to inaccurate information they provided, then you can request a new winner for the giveaway. If the giveaway did not have the correct region restrictions assigned to it, then one of three options are available.
The winner's steamgift profile: https://www.steamgifts.com/user/minatoryu . You can find his steam profile there, too (for contact).
As DemonsRift said, the key must be region locked.
Comment has been collapsed.
how do you know it's region locked and isn't just used (had problems with used keys in the past) and if it was region locked at least they should have had the manners to tell me first - rather than go behind my back with out letting me know
i have also tried to add them on Steam
Comment has been collapsed.
When you purchase keys from fanatical, you can see if it's region locked or not at the cart. After purchase, you might not see. (Fanatical users can give you better explanation, I hope)
You can't validate the keys unless you have copies of these games in your steam library.
His attitude is not ok against a trustworthy person. You may add one of his friends at steam to contact with him indirectly. This is a bit harassment, but he left no choice.

you can see if it's region locked or not at the cart.
And it gives incorrect information as often as not. Just saying.

You wrote that you made a ticket before he marked as not received but did he reveal the key?

no idea all i know is that it was well over the 7 days since the giveaway ended - how do i know if it was revealed
Comment has been collapsed.
i can see the eye meaning he has seen the code - correct
Comment has been collapsed.
Glad your problem was resolved(or on it's way).
If you will need in future to reroll a giveaway then you'll have to unsend the key first (just push "send" again) if it will stay not revealed ofc
Comment has been collapsed.
If it happened to me, I would first gather information: is the key was revealed on SG, is winners profile has this game already, which region winner is from (or at least appers to be), is there are region locked versions of this package (if you have same game on account you can probably even find out which subid it is, I'm unsure). Next step - I would try to contact winner for explanation, and take screenshots of those attempts for the next step. And last step - I would contact support, either with a reroll request, if key wasn't revealed, or with "request received feedback" if key revealed and game is on winner's account, or maybe "other" if it's something in between. If it's all done - there is nothing to do but wait.
Comment has been collapsed.
their profile is private so i can't see if they own the game or not on it
Comment has been collapsed.
It all comes to if the winner decides to contact you... Which is is stupid imo. There should be a text box that opens when you click on not received where you are obligated to write if the key was not sent/working/for the right game...
This all had me thinking that the winner maybe activated the game on another account and just wanted to get away with it... Just a thought that I hope is not true because this way the site clearly protects doing this. Looking at your account, you've given away more than 300 games (truly amazing), the least staff can do is contact your winner and see what was the problem...
Comment has been collapsed.
agree with that. Im not a veteran so cant help but hope SG will solve the problem quickly for you regarding your contribution to the community.
That remember me some times winners dont let a word to say what happens, they dont answer to mails, you wait some days between activating and let a feedback and dont have a word , then come out of the woods when have been blacklisted to say only his dissatisfaction (better than say positive words though)

One of my "not recieved marks" come from someone that won a invite only level 2 GA from one of my cakeday threads.
He wrote the key is dupe, i questioned him if he could write that he accept the deletion of the GA.
No reaction from his side, contact tries on steam the same result. After exactly 7 days he marked it as not recieved.
Had he accepted the deletion i had give him a other small game, that he don't owned, to replace the other one because i don't feeled good that he became a dupe key on my cakeday.
But after the "not recieved" and the "no communication" i wrote him only what he think to win with that behavior and that he earned now a Blacklist place and will not win a other game from me in the future.
It was a lot of, wasted, energy, time, gave, at least me, a bad mood and was a bad experience of a cakeday thread that should be bring joy and a positive mood in the end.
And as result because that weren't the only negative experience from/with my cakeday threads, i don't done a cakeday thread the last year and instead bought myself a nice game (it was a win for me and gave me a better mood too).
Oh and since that time i don't run behind winners.
I try to contact them only on steamgifts, make a screenshot from that and if they then not have reacted after 7 days i make a reroll request.
I don't contact them on steam and other ways. That isn't my job.

What should I do if the winner of my giveaway has not redeemed their gift, and I'm unable to get into contact with them?
If you contacted the winner of your giveaway on email and Steam over one week ago and they have not yet responded or redeemed any keys or gifts you attempted to send, please contact support to request a new winner. When creating a ticket, we ask you to include data that suggests you made an adequate attempt to contact the winner, such as screenshots of emails, friend requests, or gifts pending on Steam. If the request is approved, a new winner will be generated by the site.
I think you can use this method and contact support and tell them you can't give him another key because you are unable to reach the winner. Maybe they will remove the giveaway?
But tell them you are going the re-do the giveaway again so they "believe?" you and remove the giveaway.
hope this helps

One of many things I'm not content with on SG. Why is it the responsibility of the giveaway creator to contact a winner not responding?
7 days should be more than enough to activate the game and mark as received. If you don't care about checking SG or your email during this period - too bad so sad automatic re-roll has assigned a new winner.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, how it would be implemented to check if the winner is still alive is a technicality we could discuss in depth.
My view is much simpler: if the winner was interested enough in a game to enter the giveaway(I assume no auto-joiner was used) it should be a reasonable assumption they open their email from time to time or visit SG.
When they can't be bothered with such a menial task it's their prerogative but shouldn't imply any obligation on the side of the giveaway creator to serve them their win on a platter.

one of my giveaways was marked not received
If the giveaway has been revealed and also marked Not Received, without an explanation given, then it is assumed as a mis-mark and contacting staff will have them either change the feedback or contact the user. If the giveaway has not been revealed, then you can freely and unilaterally push for a reroll on grounds of winner rejecting the giveaway [alongside proof of sufficient attempt at contact].
Onus of responsibility for most things is on the GA creator, but in terms of feedback, it's the one thing the winner is- or at least in the past- was explicitly accountable for offering clarification on. In short, you shouldn't have too much difficulty in correcting things for this particular matter (unlike, say, in an instance where a winner refuses a deletion, and you're unable to provide a replacement key).

now i am not going to say who or which one (but since their is only one you could find it) i have had a giveaway i made marked not received
the sad thing is i never got told that the code was already used as (some will know) i try to replace it and have done in ever case where that happens
they also did not try to contact me though Steam either so we could discuss this - it makes me sad that some one would do this without talking to me first to get this solved as this looks bad on me and it as far as i see it is not my fault (might be a used code but i don't know since they didn't contact me on here or Steam)
Is there anything i can do to get this removed - i already contacted support (before it was marked non received) for a new winner on the bases i could not contact them myself and it had been well over a week (it ended on 25th December)
does anyone know of anyway i can get this resolved - thank you (and hopefully a Staff member reads this)
