If it didn't work the user who won could mark the giveaway as Not Received, and you'll lose a slot.
You could ask them if you are able to delete the giveaway instead which will mean you don't get a Not Received - although they don't need to say yes.
Edit - Hoes mad
Edit 2 - Hoes really mad

Created a whitelist of people who might understand that this kind of thing happens and agree to cancel the giveaway, in which case it's as if nothing happened.
Some group, like lootboy for example, ask their members to allow the giveaway to be canceled in case of a problem as well, you can do a giveaway for that band.
but in the worst situation, you just lost a slot for new giveway. not so bad
if that happend to you a lot, i don't know, maybe sanction, but i think it's only if you abuse

I would advise againt this sugestion concidering making your own rules isnt valid.
Lootboy group as mentioned above is a better way to go. Or just write them in this topic or orphan thread so that the bots can take them.

That's your selective OCD messing with you. When you create a giveaway you are making a pledge that it is valid and that you will deliver on it. This isn't FakeSteamGifts.com after all. If you can't for whatever reason, and even if it is for reasons beyond your control, then you have to live with the result. It's also always possible to deliver on it and fix it later by sourcing a valid key.
On a side note: This wasn't specifically part of the discussion but this is why it's potentially risky to buy from dubious gray-market sites.

I don't see why i should when we can just delete the damn giveaway, why should it hang in my profile and annoy me when i can simply be rid of it without much fuss for both me and the winner?
You can gift it to a friend, in the orphan keys section which is zero fuss solution, and that does not involve blacklisting people for asking you to hold up what you pledged (intention of delivering the key). Also does not involve calling people assholes and problematic for not following a problematic, asshole design ;)

You can delete the Giveaway before it ends with out problem if you give a reasonable reason why it should be done
You can pick any reason you want, deletion ticket when giveaway is still active is automatically accepted. So support will never see it, unless we decide to check user deleted giveaways.
Just a smol update :D

Or you could just replace the key with a working one. It's a simple solution and the right thing to do.

When you threaten someone if they don't agree to something, whether passive aggressively or otherwise (and which is a direct result of one's failure to properly deliver on a giveaway) then yes, you are trying to force them into what you want because you know you can't proceed without their explicit approval (as per the established rules).

Man, I'm really feeling you. Too much bullshit being written here :D

Well, I have a hunch that your point didn't really come across :D
I see you got a not recieved from a whitelist GA with less than 5 entries...for some people you would need a double blacklist :D
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, surely sounds like an annoying time for you -.-
As far as I know, you can't change the game that is given away. If there is something wrong, you can only delete it.
Also if I win a GA and there is a problem with the key, I think it's just normal to inform the GA maker by myself...what a weirdo. Saying nothing and not reacting to messages is just rude.

I think this shouldn't be an acceptable as a deletion reason in the public and private groups can that have since people have weird rules there giveaways anymore. This is increadibly rude and unfair agaisnt winner. This is another way to say "do as i say or else i will blacklist you."
I have been reading some people's opinion in the other topic and i dont really care how you think but giving this as an advice is really not okay.

yep not everyone gets it .. most of ppl will mark as not recieved if something happens and you`ll lose one slot
he should make a group like lootboy

Let me just ask... why dont you make that simple rule on groups like lootboy where all people can enter and its pre determined that you agree with the delete? Its the same thing... you get you 0.02 exp for it, and people will agree to delete cause its the group rule...
Making that on a public GA isn't necessary... Imagine the person entering the GA as some kind of "valid" addon? like ESGST, where he can enter the Giveaways without seeing the discription? or imagine people he cant understand english. So... they don't see your description, and in the end, because they follow SG rules, they get a new blacklist.... :) not nice... its not their fault that you are using public GA's to invent rules...
You do whatever you want... I just have to contest and advise a new user not to do this.

Well winner may still not agree to delete giveaway. In this case creator would need to accept not received feedback.
Nothing stops group mods to remove such winner from the group later. But fact giveaway is made in such group does not mean automatic deletion.

Yeh of course its not automatic deletion :) I can guess the amount of "delete tickets".
I just think that people, in groups or WL tend to agree more with rules than in a public GA, where the rules should be simple (you have points, you enter GAs, you get a chance to win). Groups and WL are there for the Special Rules.
But again, people should do what they want, as long as they dont break any rules. Inventing "delete rules" is not against SG rules Blacklists are there to be used and the description in GA's to...
I just prefer to advise not to do this "agree to delete" thing. if you are not sure if keys work, just dump them anywhere, give to friends.or use groups created just for that. etc.
Like... i can take my home trash and leave it in the streets, people can go around it and only step on it if they want... BUt why do that if there are special containers for the trash 3 meters away?

You replace the key or take a Not Received.
at46 gave excellent advice on what to do with keys if you're unsure of them.

You could probably just not make a giveaway if you're not sure about keys validity, no? As it's been already mentioned above, Orphan keys drop thread is your best option.

You have to buy new game on steam and gift it or SG police will follow you home and kill your dog!
But seriously - I would vote for making group ga in group that demands agreeing for ga deletion in case of invalid key - or whitelitst ga with problem described in it's description.
Also I'm against posting anything in orpan-keys-drop thread. Bots will eat anything posted there in split second.

As the topic says.
I have a few keys that I'm fairly sure aren't used, but I can't be 100% sure I didn't use them a long time ago.
What would happen if I create a giveaway and the code doesn't work.
