Tell me the story of your profile picture

I just really like Golden Sun, did at least 10 playthroughs of it when I was younger.

When I was a kid, so maybe 20-25 years ago? Was playing with my cousing some Worms and needed a nickname for my worm. So I went through my grandparents library, looking for some names. And I found book about some Baron Russell of Liverpool. Though good enough, that works. And it stuck with me since then. So imagine my surprise when I found out the character from Up! is called Russell. Had to use that as my pfp, even though my nickname wasn't originally because of him.

Made a Steam account when I started playing SA-MP (San Andreas Multiplayer) with my friends during high school and haven't changed my profile pic since.

It used to be a pic from an anime I loved
then another pic from an anime I loved
then a pic from a game I really loved
and now it's from a funny comic that I felt blended really well with a frame from the points shop (which I just now notice isn't there anymore?!).

Mine just changed. Previously it was a random picture of a sunset that I found online; now it's a real picture of a sunset (featuring a flamingo) taken by my son.

In the SNES version of Mega Man X2, there's a 1-up on this ledge in Flame Stag's stage. However, in Mega Man Xtreme, the ledge is empty, so if you make it up here, all you get is bragging rights.

I chose it for multiple reasons. Red is my favorite color, it looks nice, revolutions are often necessary and last but not least I've several character traits in common with Redcloak.
It's been my avatar since before I even created my Steam account, in 2008. I temporarily replace it during the advent and Christmas every year, to put Santa's hat on Redcloak.

Ed, from Cowboy Bebop is another character I use a lot.

Mine is just a random sketch of Akuma I drew all the moons ago on paper, I happened to find it one day and scanned it into my PC before digital cameras were abundant. Been using it forever. I've been thinking about changing it though, It's probably time I had something nicer.

I went with a glider from Conway's Game of Life, it's made up of Go stones on a board.

My profile picture is poorly drawn Monokuma from Danganronpa.
My whole profile is centered around him, as you can see. But to be honest, I don't remember when did I decide to associate my whole profile to Monokuma.
I remember trying to pick a unique nickname. I was frustrated everytime I saw someone with same nickname as me once in a while, so I started thinking: lionheart, jiraiya... wolf... wolfie... wolfix... No, all taken... bear... fluffy bear... google: fluffy synonyms: that's it, Fleecy Bear! Then, I just happened to fall in love with Danganronpa while watching some Youtuber. Maybe it was before I picked my nickname, I don't remember tbh. Anyways, Monokuma is an idol in my opinion for all bear representatives, so I just decided to make my own "art", instead of picking an image from google.

I just went with an owl to match my nickname and online persona 🙂 I wanted to create something minimalist and easily recognizable, even when small.

It used to be the main character from TV series Strike Back.

The current one is from one of my favourite game: Death Stranding but Christmasifying

Mhm. But since Ninglor comes from my first rpg character (written, not pc game) and she was a ranger. With hood, to hide her white hair... And since I really like(d) Thief. And since Garrett is... well... Garrett....

I honestly can't imagine changing it. Although! There will be soon-ish a game with a girl with one eye weird like Garretts? Soooo I'm maybe thinking of combining that somehow. But we'll see I guess :3

I love Tolkien and my pfp depicts the Eye of Sauron. It is the "Ring and Eye" motif designed by J.R.R. Tolkien for the covers of the first edition The Lord of the Rings trilogy published in 1954.
I can't remember ever using a different pfp on Steam and I don't think I ever will.

Water/Bug is an underappreciated type combo

About 20 years ago, when I was studying to become a psychologist (which I never did), we had to conduct a bunch of tests, and naturally I chose my younger sister as a subject. And that's what she drew as an imaginary animal. Their name was Zhdlo (just don't ask me why, I don't remember). So yeah, I use my teenage (that is, back then) sister's imaginary animal called Zhdlo as my profile pic. Don't tell me that's not weird.

I just like Phantom.

I like Pug Gandalf, but I'm thinking of changing it. My dog recently passed away, and every time I see it, I am reminded of him.
