Because the lotteries are fixed. Especially here in Jersey where 98% of the big money is paid out to our dickhole of a governor and candidate Christie's rich ass friends and backers.

Maybe, we have 2-3 big lotteries that have like 4,5 million tickets each draw, though there is also a smaller one which cost 5 euro and had a main prize of 100.000 euro (which is a nice amount).
And if the jackpot falls (about 3-4 times a year) you win 1 million. For that one they sell about 100-150.000 tickets every time so the odds on that are alot better, even if i would win 100k one time i would already been happy with that.
Unfortunately a few weeks ago they reduced it to 20k, which isn't alot these days.
I had a boss who knew someone who won 100.000 twice.
But yeah usually it goes to people who already have alot, not to mention here you have to pay 33% tax over any winning.

Biggest one we have is the Eurojackpot on friday with a max of 90 million, but mostly so far prizes fell in Germany and Finland and the likes. No crazy amounts like 200 million like they have in the USA

After so many entries in different lotteries for years i still haven't won any big money yet. Oh well.
