Is it possible to make SG function so if a person leaves or gets kicked from a group that they be removed from the groups GAs?

I mean I know it isn't how it is on SG now, but could the function be added to the site?

Technically yes but it's like 99.9999% not going to happen ever. Best you can do is ask for a reroll.

You can only ask for a reroll if the user enters a GA after they left or were removed from the group. If they entered while they were in the group support won't reroll it.

That's incorrect. That's how it works for whitelists, but for non-whitelist groups support will reroll so long as the user left the group prior to the giveaway end. Just make sure you're able to provide a screenshot of the ejection time- found at your group url + /history (eg, https://steamcommunity.com/groups/steamgifts/history). You may need to ask an officer of your group to take the screenshot for you.

That's not what I was told by support. Several GAs couldn't be rerolled because the member entered the GA before the date of removal.

I am the officer. I provide a screenshot in the past. What I mentioned above happened.

(Support)
In the event that the winner of a group giveaway is no longer a group member, a new winner can be requested as long as they were removed from the group prior to the giveaway ending date. The giveaway creator must provide a screenshot of the group history in the ticket.

I've had four different support members validate that, and I've probably had at least that many different ones actually push through such rerolls, nevermind the ones they've done for other members in my groups whom I've provided screenshots for.
Is it possible that the support member that refused your reroll was one of the new members, and simply didn't take the time to verify the procedure? Heck, one specific user among the new support members is known for consistantly behaving in such a way that makes it likely they'd do it to intentionally just to spite you. :X

Oh no I definitely don't believe it was done out of spite. Maybe they were just misunderstood the rule. It's all good, at least I know I can get rerolls for members in the group now. Thanks.

When someone leaves a group, SG has no way of knowing this happened until the user syncs his account. Once the account is synced, he will no longer be able to enter group giveaways.

Right, I was just wondering if once they sync is there a way that SG makes it so they are removed from all the group GAs?

Sleepycat if someone entered a group GA and was removed after they joined a GA and wins can you reroll?

If Alice was kicked from a group and won a group giveaway, then her win can only be rerolled if she was kicked before the giveaway ended. If she was kicked after the giveaway ended, she is still eligible to receive the game.

I very well could of misunderstood what was told to me, so thank you for clearing it up Sleepycat. The good news is now I know for the future of the group. :)

as an alternative suggestion, make it so group leader has a button on the groups page to sync all users of the group to remove those that were kicked.

i say only leader because it clearly would have an impact on the server if everyone were allowed to group sync all users.

i wouldn't want my account synced by someone else...

no, i mean have it only check that group, and only the admin of that group you're in can do that sync. if you're kicked from the group it shouldn't matter what you want, i wasn't meaning sync anything else of yours either except that group sync.

edit: upon clicking button it goes over to steam community members page associated with that steam group and removes the users that are no longer in that group, and while at it, it mine as well add those that have joined it and haven't synced yet.. but no other form of sync done on user-side.

i don't think sg can sync only parts of each profile. it either syncs everything or nothing, that means it will also change avatars.
unless cg changes how it works, it's a pretty intrusive.

yeah, i don't think it would either while trying to utilize the current sync feature at all.. you're probably completely right there. though a totally new side feature different from that entirely could be made to do that. i personally think it's an issue worthy of taking the time to do, but it's just a suggestion. not a deal breaker for me without it. ^^

i never managed a group but i suppose it's pretty annoying to see kicked people still entering group GAs... it could be helpful to have an option like that.

the rebuttal for the other side is, they have plenty of staff to keep up with the tickets from them it isn't really that big of a deal. and i fully understand it was designed to be done on the user side only so that it had the least amount of server impact to sync rather then any form of automated sync causing performance issues. but i think group leaders should be able to have that (that group only sync) option to keep things even easier on the staff anyways.

It doesn't work for private profile.
And someone who cheats on purpose will put his profile on private.

But it could help in general.

private profile doesn't apply to this page ^^

and groups like that are why i say only allow admin to be able to do the group syncing.. a sync of that magnitude would certainly have a server impact, so CG is the only would who could launch it (and he'd never do so).

Oh, yes, nevermind, you are right !!

Well, this is just another additional thing that could be automated on SG, then ^^

Maybe we should maintain something like GOG most wanted (and most voted) features by community... ^^

I would love this so much. <3
There are a lot of people in my group that have been inactive for a long period of time, this feature would be so nice!

For the moment there's only the request new winner/ no longer a group member (group only) re-roll.

I have had a kicked group member win a gift from me and with the above I got the re-roll from SG support.

Maybe other things will be implemented in the future, but that's unknown and uncertain.
