XFX 7870 and 550W

I suppose they work for low end gaming for a while... ;D

So, maybe I should add something here for you...

Heh I run on a Intel Pentenium processor, and a AMD 5450. Now my build is low end not yours. I can barely run some games; but congrats on your new PSU and GPU.

He probably meant to say Intel Pentium processor. As to which, I am stumped.

Has there been that many? I mean there is Pentium and Then the Pro and the 2 and 3 and 4 and then it went downhill... ;D

If they just had made sextium it all would have made sense...

There is Pentium 1, 2, 3, 4 and D. After which, Intel stopped using the name.

Incorrect. Intel continues to make Pentium chips as a low-cost low-end CPU solution. They are now simply named "Pentium" along with a model number.

Not true. If you see the info here, it shows the last Pentium model being produced on the year 2009. After that, all production ceased for the Pentium name.

Are we reading same page?

What is this then? atleast they still use it for some CPUs as marketing name...

"The current Pentium processors only share the name but are in fact based on the same processor chips that are used in the Intel Core but are typically used with a lower clock frequency, a partially disabled L3 cache and some of the advanced features such as hyper-threading and virtualization disabled." directly from the page I linked. Meaning it's not Pentium anymore, but C-Core instead. Pentium is dead.

The last Pentium in sense of architecture was in 1999.

In sense of architecture, it is.
However, we do have until Pentium Dual-Core for desktops and Pentium M for laptops. Any after that are using the Core design.

It's rather strange that Pentiums are true Pentiums only as long as the current flagship is called Pentium...

Blame Intel for their naming sense.

Yeah I blame them for not naming Pentium II as Sextium ;D

Gratz on upgrading, always nice to get some new hardware, you should do better than low end gaming with that unless youre cpu cant keep up, in which case the gpu + psu would be a wasted purchase.

A stable i5 would be just fine, unless he has like a pentium CPU or something...

You should be fine with that build. Depending on your CPU anyways.

What PSU is that? Like which brand and efficiency. I'm using a bequiet 450W with 80PLUS Gold efficency, runs so smooth it's scary.

Anyways, the GPU is really great. I got a 7870 myself, however it's the ASUS DC2 version. There are so many versions out there I don't even know anymore which version was the best. Considering the price and performance this GPU is just really awesome right now. Can play any game in 1440p with highest settings it's just awesome.

It's manufactured by Seasonic, so definitely a solid PSU ;)

I think it's pretty retarded a brand like "Be Quiet!" exists, since in my opinion if there should be any brand regarding the volume of a PSU fan, it should be "Be loud!" because every PSU I have ever seen, be it a crappy one or a 80+ eficiency one were quiet as fuck, CPU or GPU fan in idle were always the only thing noticeable, if at all.

7870 is not "Low end". It is on the higher end of things. If your card costs over $100 you are nowhere near low end. A $50 card is low end.

http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/97DRu/the-bards-tale someone do something about that, or not... I don't care...

Q9300 2,50GHz and 8GB DDR2 are other specs. I should OC some I think, but really this was a replacement for my broken 4870...

I think your CPU and DDR2 might be really slowing everything down a bit. Considering the prices of everything you should maybe consider upgrading your other stuff too. A nice built around an i5 4670 for example. <3 It would be a shame to see your other components slow down the GPU.
