Can you elaborate?

AVG used to be good, but is bloated and prone to false positives. On top of that it's quite aggressive, so if it wrongly decides your system files are infected, hope you have install media handy.

I agree with the false positive, I was writing a game stats program in C++ and it flagged it as a Trojan :')

yup, tried it but it was giving me a headache with false positives, i use Avast for quite a long time and im satisfied with it.

If you're on Windows: not the best choice, but I guess you know that.
If you're using something else: shouldn't be a big deal.

I'm on windows, but I just don't download virusses. Sure, I might have alittle spyware here and there, but at least my pc is way faster this way (for now).

This. Antivirus just slows down my computer. I keep MBAM installed for if something bad happens, but I've only had to use it a handful of times the last 3-4 years.

Yep, until a site you regularly visit gets hacked or any number of other things that can happen which are impossible to avoid no matter how smart you think you are.

This. Even the top hits in a Google Image Search these days will leave your computer infected without any kind of protection.

Well just wait till you have to plug a usb flashdisk for example. Someone's flashdisk is not always virus-free, you know. It often happens if you're at work or college, or simply social life.

That's a good thing, really. Just fyi, usb drives is a great way to spread virus. It's like sex without rubber if you plug usb drives from people without having antivirus. And if you never happen to get STDs while doing that, well, that's a good thing, really.
