I've had mealworms before. They were reasonably tasty doused in spices, and since they were fried there wasn't really the gross texture you might expect.

So did I, but just the way they are, raw and alive. It was a market in a zoo, where you could try things they feed to their animals. They do not have a specific taste of their own. And the texture isn't gross at all. Because they are so neutral, you can easily use it in other products.
