Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle
Bayonetta 2 and 3
New Pokemon game

New Yoshi game
Possible new Animal Crossing game?
Possible Super Mario Maker 2?
Metroid Prime 4
Project Octopath Traveler
New Fire Emblem game
New Zelda game in the works

My girlfriend got one on Black Friday, and she's played Breath of the Wild on it for two straight months. I'm not the biggest Nintendo fan, but I was astounded at 1. how lightweight it is for its size and 2. how absolutely incredible the graphics are on that screen. It's amazing.

I hope Mr. Iwata knows how successful it's been, and can rest easy and proud.

Maybe it's the only "console" on the market... :P

Since PS and XBOX are just Mini-PCs...^^

complete edition port of Wii U Smash

We can only hope. Those DLC prices are insane.

Given the potential emphasis on porting, I'm wondering if the Wii U'll be one of the rare consoles to get superseded by its successor, despite the Switch's lack of backward compatibility. If the emphasis ends up being on updated editions of games, the Wii U may eventually become utilizable only for content-lacking or niche titles.

I would like to see them add all the DLC for Wii U smash in, add all the 3DS exclusive content, add in 5 or so extra fighters (Cappy Mario, Arms Girl, Splatoon Inklings, Ice Climbers, etc,) and a couple completely new stages, call it a day that would be good. I don't think the Switch needs a completely new Smash. Smash 4 just needs to be played by more people (it's stranded on the desert island called the Wii U.)

Ahh you are missing the point. You see the difference is, that whilst the characters may be the same, the gameplay is vastly different on the main games, and with the series like Mario Kart and Super smash, it's usually only 1 per console, not 1 per year. So it's not just the same game coming out over and over. Whereas other publishers will bring out the same game year after year with different characters (or even the same characters), Nintendo will bring out a completely new game, with the same characters. They seem to have realised that people don't need new characters to be made all the time as long as the gameplay is fresh, and in a way it brings a sense of familiarity without needing to sell a new character, much in the same way big movie series do the same.
So whilst it might look like there are a couple of Mario games coming out every year, there's a world of difference between the 3d adventure games, (big open world maps like mario odyssey), 3d platformers (smaller levels, like mario world), 2d platformers (new super mario bros), the paper mario series and the mario and luigi rpgs. And of course the spin offs are usually completely different genres. Unlike ManShooter 20, which is always just a game where you shoot men in the face.

People complain about everything. Primarily being a Nintendo fan, I see a lot of praise for Nintendo, but most of the complaints I see are directed toward Nintendo. In the end, there's going to be people that don't like the thing you like. GoW 4 isn't a bad, and you should just enjoy the games you like :p

People's memory is incredibly short. Everyone was about how bad the WiiU fared, cried how the SNES was their last popular console, yet somehow forget the small thing that the Wii was the highest-selling console of its generation. The console market is so pleb-saturated in the media that people forget the Nintendo a) is the only company that makes gaming consoles and not home media stations and microtransaction platforms and b) it is not the first time even in this decade they sweep the market with console and/or game sale numbers.
(Plus they are also a set of dinosaurs who still retain their business approach from 1980 and treat their own dedicated fans more horrible than Activision or Konami.)

Yeah you're right on all fronts there. I don't know why people wanted Nintendo to die so badly after the Wii U didn't sell. I am a dedicated PC gamer, but I own 5 nintendo consoles and enjoy playing the games, just because the experiences they offer are unique. Whilst the other consoles are like overpriced underpowered PCs nowadays, Nintendo actually offers something different that doesn't compete with PC gaming. So they compliment each other.
( I also wish they would update some of their ideas, especially with regards to region locking and online purchases.)

I agree. I've bought most Nintendo consoles (other then wii u) because it's just a fun gaming experience. Especially with friends. It's nice to be able to play PC games or PS4 games but then call some friends over and pop on the Switch.

Do you have any articles to reference that I can read up on? I'm aware Nintendo hasn't been perfect (especially as far as their odd trend of intentionally restricting production goes), but I hadn't realized their approach had ever gotten as extremely negative as you indicate. I mean, it's not like you compared them to forerunners like Ubisoft or Valve, and Activision's issues are, I believe, mostly heavily emphasized toward developers (unlike Bethesda, which thoroughly spreads its negativity between both consumers and developers)- but still, that's a pretty notable statement of disfavorable behavior nonetheless.

It is easier just watching Jim Sterling rant on it a bit:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoZnaens3GI

In short, in the age of Twitch, they still think that anyone using any of their characters in any way outside their official Creator's Program (which takes the majority of the revenues from the creator), they still protect everything they own like a paranoid. When Devolver Digital has a streaming policy of "yeah, stream our stuff as much as you want", Nintendo is so stuck in the pre-digital age that people were genuinely surprised the Switch has a proper digital distribution platform and not just a new Virtual Console.

Also, while they are trying to make up, they are still notorious of treating any 3rd party developer like shit. This is why their consoles have so few non-Nintendo games. But since it is often considered one of the major points of the WiiU's downfall, they seem to be at least trying to handle outsiders a little better.

Absolutely incredible. Here's to hoping for a special/limited edition themed console release!
Playing through the little bit of BotW completely blew me away with the game play. Stoked to play Odyssey when finances permit as well.
Slightly more off topic, I had bought a WiiU previously and I like to refer to it as the beta version of the Switch.
It had such potential but fell really flat with the actual game play on the bulky controller.
