gameplay: it was one of the first hack'n'slay grinder rpg I came along, good controls and fun to play.
accessibility: well. I would say yes at that time, I don't know how it feels now (don't forget the difficulty on the easy level would let you feel invincable until you run into the higher level monster and then you had to grind to get the equipment)
story: was quite shallow at that point for a rpg, but good enough to create a atmosphere/world (and the sequels still live on)
overall: I ran around in a cow armor, looking for the cow level ... do I have to say more .... mooo

Diablo had a nice atmosphere, but looking back it was extremely barebones feature-wise. I loved that spells can be learnt and upgraded from tomes, but there were no skilltrees or alternative builds. I think the very best thing Diablo 1 did is existing, creating the genre and being really nice for that era, but it was Diablo 2 that really upped it's game.
Was simple but clunky control- and accessibility-wise.
Music - Tristram theme, enough said :)
