This is huge news:

Introducing GOG Connect
GOG Connect

Important: You can connect only one Steam account with your GOG.com library. This process is permanent – choose wisely!

Important 2: If you own some of the games and Connect doesn't recognize them, press the Refresh button and wait a while (can be a few minutes, hours or even a day). The reason for this is that GOG is using the Steam API to scan your Steam library and the API has a limit on the number of calls it can make for a given period of time. If you're still having problems, refresh your GOG account (simply clicking the link is enough; this is different that the Refresh button on the GOG Connect page!).

Important 3: In case you are still getting the message "Due to exceedingly high demand this may take up to several days, please check back later. Thank you for your patience." after waiting a while and trying the account refresh link above, then it would be a good idea to contact GOG support. Many users have reported that their problem was fixed quickly after that.

Connect your Steam account and grow or jumpstart your GOG.com library.

Today, we're launching a new program called GOG Connect. The premise is simple: connect your Steam account and add your eligible games to your GOG.com library.

Whether you're checking us out for the first time or have been with us for a while, GOG Connect gets you DRM-free versions of your games, digital extras, and a whole lot of freedom of choice (like whether you go with the GOG Galaxy client or not). It gets you our take on game ownership, and we say: why buy the games more than once?

While GOG Connect will stick around, the available games will come and go. These are limited-time offers made possible by participating developers and publishers, so stay tuned as we bring new titles onboard in the future (and grab your copies before they go away)!

I really hope more games are made available, because this could raise GOG's popularity significantly!

+14 games I'll never play on gog
Why do I even bother? I already have them on Steam and I hardly use gog. It seems rather useless (for me)

Because you can store them for all eternity on your own devices for when Steam goes bankrupt.

You and I will be long gone before that happens.

Implying people still have computers supporting windows 7 and dos in 50 years, even if you can pass on accounts to your children.

I know, it was meant as a joke reply (I do not know of any data storage device that has a life span longer than a few years max).

I know! I was joking too. I should probably start today over, I'm not doing very well. lol

See here
M-Disc ... a BD-R with 1,000 years data warranty. Pretty certain that company doesn't exist anymore in a 1000 years
so you could sue them if they don't live up to the promise, if there's even a Blu-Ray Drive to read read out your
disc. But it's a cool marketing gag.

It may have been a joke, but I think you were right. The chances of Valve going bankrupt during our lifetime is higher than the chance of losing access to those DRM-free games (be it via GOG or from our own personal storage/backup). Bigger companies than Valve went bankrupt, to name but a few - GM, Chrysler, Kodak, Delta airlines and Enron.

It would make sense, if there's any DLCs/Addons for a game you own on Steam,
e.g. Pillars of Eternity, then you could buy the addon either for Steam or GOG,
giving you more options. But of course, PoE (or any other game that matches that
criteria) has never been on GOG connect, so it's basically just a backup, in case
there's some major server failure on Steam.

the bad point is U can't access your games on steam if they are on GOG. so it's just a one-sided sync

Why would GOG offer you something that gives money to their biggest competition? o_0

dude! it has nothing to do with GOG! steam should allow this! because U didn't pay Steam for the services and if Steam allows U to add GOG games to your library(like the games are steam games), U could just buy the games that are cheaper on GOG and add them to your steam account for free! and it's not good for steam. but GOG is different. GOG is doing this to gather more gamers(customers)

since the time when the steam servers went down for like an hour or so, I can't manage to get the gog and steam to connect as usual, it just says "YOU ARE QUEUED" and that I should come back later. Anyone else with the same issue?
