"Advertising" is permitted within giveaway descriptions. Advertising one's Steam Group is permitted within the Steam Group sub-forum. All other forms of "advertising" are prohibited.
Our objective is to keep SG free of the spam which afflicts other sites. Occasionally users will post YouTube or site links for "other reasons." These are generally ignored. If Support deems a link of yours to be in violation of the "no advertising" rule, we will ask you to remove it. Non-compliance and/or repetition of the infraction will be poorly received by Support Staff.

I was just about to go complain.
I was angry at first - not at you, but the rules... just to make that clear. I felt I should at least mention the distinction between the two, since... my tantrum/drama.

You seem to be referring to multiple things/instances, here, and I'm afraid you've lost me. Please note, however, that I have nothing against you personally. I wish I had the time to check the forum as regularly and carefully as our users deserve, but that hasn't been the case. I am therefore forced to choose between "doing nothing" and "doing something, albeit sporadically." I chose the latter, but that comes with its own set of drawbacks.
And now I've gone and used up all my time, again. P

Now you're starting to understand my own frustrations... Why only steam groups? What makes them special?
Curations shold be allowed as well, at the very least... and where do you draw the line? I mean... we've already crossed it waay to far. Plus General Guideline point 7 in steamgifts' own rules clearly states otherwise... where it states clearly:
Such actions include but are not limited to clicking a referral link, liking a Facebook page, following a Twitter account, joining a Steam group... blah blah blah

Steam Group recruiting is a special exemption to the "no advertising" rule, but only in the Steam Group Recruitment sub-forum.
Simple mentioning of a Steam group does not usually constitute "advertising," although circumstances may indicate that the mention is indeed designed to that effect. If Support deems such a mention to be "crossing the line," they will act upon it.

If you'd post links to private giveaways, then they could be in both general or other forum categories. But as you created giveaways for your group, and it's required to join to be able to enter I will move this topic to group-recruitment category.
It will be less confusing, as seeing giveaways outside of group recruitment indicate you don't need to be part of the group to enter.
