Basically every Shaolin fighting movie? :3 (especially those with Jet Li)

I'm probably too tired, which is pretty obvious since I'm withing this comment at all, but I read that as Shaolin fisting and was thinking what the hell... for a while

Regarding the actual subject though, I don't think you have anything to be ashamed about with Jet Li. If you would have been talking about Jackie Chan on the other hand... :P

A recent shayamaualn film? I haven't watched Split, but I think that having a massive shit with 'The last airbender' and distance himself from the great producers helped him. His movies ain't anything special, but at least are not that bad. There is also a 2nd part for 'Unbroken' wich is nice.

Prequel memes are also nice.

I own a fair number of "fat Steven Seagal" movies, but have yet to watch them.;) A guilty pleasure, as I know he isn't the greatest actor out there. LOL!;)

I have all his movies that are available here and in the UK. I really enjoy his movies, from his classics ones to those that are released now. ;-)

Dogville. I can't understand why most people not like this and even worse I can't understand why the fuck I do

Dogville and its sequel - the Manderlay - are astonishing movies. It's a shame that Land of Opportunities trilogy hasn't been completed. Having said that, Lars von Trier's movies are certainly (and maybe thankfully) not for everybody.

I was going to write Antichrist, it's probably my favourite Trier's movie and it's actually pretty much hated - unlike Dogville. Sure, your general Marvel fan wouldn't understand any Trier's movie, but Dogville is an acclaimed masterpiece among critics and that minority that actually watches arthouse (with some exceptions, of course).

keyword: minority.
As for the critics I never pay attention to those, I rarely if ever agree with them, so no idea what the consensus is. Although it is Trier's movie so I have a guess.
The Antichrist would indeed be a great choice for this thread but unfortunately I'm also in the side that didn't like it, the whole film just felt like someone lashing out on you

disclaimer: have watched the whole marvel movie catalogue and greatly enjoyed it. Yes, the movies are crap but they're fun :P

But this minority is the target audience of such movies, they are not exactly supposed to be loved or even viewed by everybody. And mentioning Marvel was just a crude example, I was talking about general preferences (like choosing Michael Bay over Jarmusch); Marvel movies are fun sometimes, can't argue with that.

Yeah was just emphasizing that it's still a minority opinion(even if it's the key demographic for it) so it's an appropriate answer for the question.
Truth be told there's very few movies I hold in high esteem so my choices were extremely limited, it'd be either this or Funny Games, all the rest had better success. Both well received by the (limited)audience they cater to but not having widespread appeal.

Well, to be fair, Funny Games can be easily mistaken for a slasher based on IMDB description and such, and an unprepared viewer won't exactly expect to be blamed for on-screen violence (not to mention that Haneke intentionally destroys the said genre's rules).

I actually quite liked Shyamalan's "The Visit". Of course, I took the view that it was supposed to be some kind of joke and not a horror film with moments of comic relief. Whether it was parody, satire, or just straight comedy... I don't know. But I think Shyamalan was trolling people with it, to an extent. Trying to make them expect yet-another found footage horror movie, and throwing a curve ball at them.

My family isn't that intelligent (I'm a genetic fluke), so I have to go with The Penitent Man, GATTACA, The Thirteenth Floor, Mr. Nobody, etc.
Anything that involves existentialism.

The two I've seen of those are Gattaca and Mr. Nobody and I really enjoyed them. I know a lot of people who hate Mr. Nobody especially, and I never understood because I thought it was a really well made film that made you think.

Nice movies. Gattaca is my personal alltime fav, somehow no other movie touches me the same emotionally wise and Jude Law and Uma are some of my favorite actors. However no way I would consider it a 'hated by everyone else' movie.

Movies nobody likes but me are Eden Log and the Matrix sequels.

I watched the first two Twilight movies in cinema as a (pre-)teen. The first one was alright, the second was boring. Didn't bother watching the last three ones since I've already read the books and the adaptation wasn't very good, but I've watched a lot of funny reviews of it so I get why everyone hates the series, especially the last two movies.

Other than that I'm not the really a movie watcher, I'm more into shows. I guess I can enjoy stupid "chick flicks" without being bothered by the stupidity, I guess it's very easy for me to get into a story and its characters no matter how thin and bland they are.

I like the original Butterfly Effect as well. I've gotten the impression that some people dislike the movie because they dislike Ashton Kutcher. Not sure.

The sequels however suck really hard imho.

The Phantom of the Opera. People like to talk shit about the movie because of Gerard Butler, but I actually like it. I admit that he's far from good and the theater version is 1000x better, but it's not thaaaaaat bad. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Pretty much every movie that deviates from "normal" gets its portion of hatered - probably especially the ones that are as brilliant as Naked Lunch.
