heh...i guess he meant support did what it could, considering Valve´s new system doesnt offer many other options, besides politely declining with an automated message. Different workers, and these dont hold much power.
Although their responses are more superficial self explanatory answers, that may or may not be 100% related with your problem, and less helpful than i would prefer

I hope your friend doesn't read Steamgifts discussions. Spoiler alert!

The response you got is a form letter -- other people get the exact same response, verbatim. People have been complaining about it since the day they changed the gifting system. It's really stupid.

If it is such a common problem that they have a canned response for support, why the hell don't they just fix the wording so it stops claiming you can cancel and reschedule?

i once purchased a game on steam, and when i activated it a popup told me the system had no activation keys spare, so i contacted steam support and they told me to reinstall steam. if nothing else, at least it gave me a good laugh.

no, steam legitimately did not have keys for the product (it was a ubisoft game) - they needed to wait for more activation keys from them.. thats why reinstalling steam was such a laughable suggestion, because it wasnt a software based bug :D

More likely they will just sell case keys that might unlock a random game in your account for a few hours. If you are lucky. Otherwise you might just get a virtual hat to wear while you buy case keys. Or possibly even just a skin for your hat.
