Shit. Another one going to Micro$oft? Ubisoft next?
Let's just hope Valve is not looking to sell...

TBH out of all the major players that I can think of, Microsoft would be the best place for EA to land.

Someone will be aquiring Ubisoft as well, but I have a feeling it will WB or Disney, not Microsoft.

Consolidation isn't good for anyone, except the conglomerate swallowing it up. This how you create duopoly. Or triopoly if you count Nintendo.

Well there will always be indies but that's only if companies like Valve and other resellers remain independent... which is not 100% certain as things are going. Fingers crossed though.

And they're also not major players when it comes to developing games like the big three are.

It's getting a bit stuffy though with all these game studios being acquired by Micro$oft. Especially when you know how little they care about privacy and data mining among other things.
I'm also worried that they will get critical mass and retire all the games by aaaall the studios they own from Steam and it'll be another store and another client and blah blah.
I don't know about Ubisoft. They successfully stopped a hostile takeover just a few years back by a massive group and they keep claiming they want to stay independent. In any case, they probably wouldn't go to Micro$oft as there are oversight authorities in the EU that prevent the concentration of certain sectors into too few holdings.

well id rather M$ buys everyone and Sony stays with like 2 games on their platform (i have PS if somebody thinks im trolling and are Sony hater) and maybe then they will start treating their customers like actual customers and not like free money. M$ lets you play games on X-Box and on PC, M$ has actual BC for older generations, Sony wants to lock games to only their console and doesn't want BC and instead wants to sell remasters. Just saying, if somebody is gonna buy EA id rather for it to be someone who has a track record of having BC and supporting older games (at least on x-box) and maybe somebody will finally start caring for older games on old systems

The thing with big companies that absorb everything around them is that they tend not to need to be good to their customers once they're more or less the only option, which is why M$'s recent behavior is concerning, especially when they are also the owner of the world's most used OS.

I don't trust EA but i am certainly not fond of Microsoft taking every big name. Couldn't care less about who buy Ubisoft one day, ANYONE will do better.

After losing the FIFA brand, I think investors will wait to see how their next football game sells, outside of FIFA and Madden, EA makes no significant revenue and their IPs are already dead (The Sims, Battlefield, Dragon Age, Mass Effect), they already lost Star Wars and Apex Legends is the only other thing going on they have.

They didn't lose Star Wars they just no longer have an exclusive license.

They are doing that badly? Then again I don't remember that many good IPs from them recently.

The only one I can see realistically going for it and buying EA right now is Microsoft and that's kinda worrying, I'm fine with MS swallowing Activision and Bethesda but I don't want them to just to end up owning half of the videogames industry.
Maybe Embracer group is interested, they just bought the chunk of Square Enix that used to be Eidos after all.

To anyone going "yay EA's getting bought" or "I wish X buys Z next" etc, remember that no matter how shitty a company is more competition is ALWAYS better! So let's say microsoft might seem like a good guy now - decent releases, game pass and whatnot - once they'll swallow all the competition it'll go down the route of iterative rereleases, price gouging and other scummy practices. And you can paste any company name in that sentence. Now I don't know if EA'd sell or not - I'm not an oracle - but I really wish that for once they'd get their shit together and come out with a quality product instead of jumping blindly at some quick cash

I like how these companies can shell out billions to buy out another with the current state of inflation while average folks can barely make ends meet anymore. On the other hand, it would suck (for us) if Tencent got their hands on EA as I'm sure they'd inject micro-transactions into everything just to make more money. Can you imagine gachas being sold through old EA published games like The Sims 4? Either way, I hope like hell Bioware takes SWTOR and the other Star Wars games they're developing and do what Bungie did with Destiny 2... get the f--- away from their publisher, especially if EA is looking to sell or merge.

Let's face it Microsoft or tencent. They only have that much money. If I want to choose I choose MS

Pretty conflicted about this one. I really dislike EA and what they did to studios and their IPs, but if M$ owns whole market, is no good either. And another thing, EA should be sold by a lot of cash. O mean loads of it. Doubt anyone has finances for that atm or near future.

Please God no, I don't like EA, but Microsoft is even worse in almost every aspect. Everything they buy gets assimiliated into their awful, account system, plus this massive monopolism is just concerning.

Same thing happened to Minecraft: in the beginning it was almost like nothing happened, but then years later you were basically forced to migrate on the threat of losing the product you paid full price for. With this you also lost the modicum of privacy the separate accounts gave you so if Microsoft decides they don't like your face/something you said some time ago, then say bye-bye to every single game you paid for on that account.

Phil Spencer is one of the few people that knows whats good for gaming. I love his gamepass, his "full-force" onto steam and is mostly pro-consumer.
Yes some games get stomped but Ubisoft and EA are better with Microsoft than anything else.
I had never any issues with my microsoft account (Halo masterchief collection for example) so I can't talk about that.
If its on Steam - sign me in.

Ubisoft needs to come back to steam as well. Since they left I haven't spend a single penny on them.

Steam big picture mode is the best to freely remap controller because it overrides the default controller configuration of all games.

Electronic arts was already back to Steam since some years, so i was happy to finally be able to play for exemple need for speed with Steam controller remapping (game itself doesn't offer controller remapping) or Mirror's Edge catalyst with Steam full controller remapping (because in-game there are just some limited presets configs).

For the same reason, i hope Ubisoft will finally come back to Steam one day.

But whatever their decision in the end, i just hope EA will ensure continuity of access for the players who have already purchased their games on Origin or Steam. And Ubisoft will ensure continuity of access for the players who have already purchased their games on Steam or Uplay.

I just hope not. I really prefer Sony to buy it... Or well atleast they make atleast decent single player games for example, and I don´t think that they will make Playstation Exclusive EA Games. ...

Honestly I'm fine with it, especially if it gets EA to stop making 100 of DLC for one game and just bundles it all together. At least then I could stop boycotting the company.
