41 WPM for me, I guess I'm average. Wonder what the fuck are those guys who voted for 120+ WPM doing with their lives.

Playing games, or working the tills in a retail store. :P

Just did two tests on my 10" netbook, one for my native language (German) and one for English.
German: 82 WPM (no mistakes)
English: 73 WPM (no mistakes)
To me, it's important to not do any typing errors, because those cost you the most time to correct. Of course I could just hack onto my keyboard and reach 120 WPM with a moderate count of mistakes, but that'd kill the purpose of fast typing.
Also, I'm probably 10+ WPM faster on my external keyboard.
I'm happy with my scores though, considering that I'm not looking at the keys once while typing and not letting any mistakes slip through.

Back when I learned to type, making mistakes was problematic. We used paper and mechanical typewriters, so your typing speed didn't include any mistakes. (When I took my test, I had zero mistakes.)

I can type blind.
This comes in handy by solving my homework on my PC. Just have to look on my homework and type it on my pc without looking at it.
Quite good at it. I mean you have to if you want to work as a IT-Specialist for Systemintegration.

That's called "touch typing," and I just sort of assumed that anyone that said they could type did so in that manner. P

I didn't know it was called that way.
Now my result makes sense: 57 WPM and the site states that an average touch typist has a 58 WPM speed.

Took the test 2 times and got an average of 90-100 WPM.

That was in English. On my native language (Portuguese), I got 55-70 WPM. lol

I don't know... But I don't type 100% correctly. In middle school, when we learned how to type correctly in Media class, I didn't learn very well. I would just take my two index fingers and poke each key with them, and only those.

I see a lot of people type that way, even at work with engineers that use computers everyday. It's called Hunt and Peck method.

Remembered taking a test on a similar thread - 39 WPM.
Probably more like 20-30 as my natural speed, when not trying for a test.

I type competitively and take typing tests online for fun. Just curious what the typing speeds look like around here.
EDIT: Since it's anonymous, I hope people will be honest about their abilities! I'm genuinely curious.
EDIT 2: Thanks for the responses everyone. I'm gonna plug my favorite typing website: typeracer.com
