sigh, they are really desperate to sell it with these kind of, can i say useless?, marketing

I would not call it useless. They are evoking the ideas of an exclusive, elite club, and also of getting something "day one" (which is a big deal for some people both in general, and in the gaming community in particular). By heavily branding themselves with those ideas it could attract some interest.

No different to steam having an achievement for pre-ordering AoE 2 HD

Yeah, a special achievement, forever marking you as one of the losers that bought the NSA-Spybox at day one, even before Microsoft descided to patch out all their bad descisions due to the lack of sales..

First: Does it make it any better if other companies do it too?
Second: Listening to phonecalls and the fullblown profiles you can get from people using Facebook and Google-Products etc is bad enough, but do you really think that any of this can be compared with an internet-conected hightech Camera/Microphone in your livingroom? I mean, if the ability to play a few nice games is worth that to you, go for it! xD But don´t act surprised if people laugh at you.
Third: We are talking about Microsoft, not Verzion.

My point is that there's already enough hardware in your living room for NSA to spy on you. Including phones, security cams in some places, webcams, smart tvs and so on.
Yes, it is bad. I just don't understand why there's such a big fuss only about Kinect and nothing else.

Ah okay, your posting sounded more like "don´t complain, you better get used to it!". I know that a lot goes unnoticed by the public and I always was horrified by the lack of outrage when they put the mechananisms to enable things like PRISM in place (its the same shit here in Germany), but I´m rather happy that the topic is finaly getting some attention and people start thinking about such things again..
Kinect might only be a small part of a big problem, but its a good place to start and a little outrage is better than no outrage at all.

Let me bring your excitement further down with the following fact: Its made by Double Helix games, creator of such acclaimed games such as:
-G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
-Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters
-Battleship
-Silent Hill: Homecoming.

It's one of several bonuses for pre-ordering. I personally don't find the pre-order package all that compelling, but I don't think that the fact that exclusive characters are included as a pre-order for "an entire console" is relevant to judging the game itself.

You don't HAVE to pre-order then. Some people will. There is no doubt that those people are supporting the brand more than those that don't pre-order or otherwise buy day one. The question is, do you care about supporting the brand? If not, don't worry about it and stop railing against those that choose to identify with the brand more than you do.

The content is what it is. If they're not giving enough main story content then don't buy or wait for a lower price. If I'm running a pizza place and I put your pizza in the oven, and also put in two calzones you still only get the pizza because that's what you paid for.
Companies will charge what people are willing to pay. Since people are willing to pay for the new inflated price (which is not that unreasonable, given that new video game base prices have not increased significantly in a long time) which is base game + dlc, then there is nothing wrong with the companies charging what people are willing to pay.

True. I think of it more like the way manufacturers have kept the same price point but have shrunk the size of packages over the last ten years. It is a less obvious, more consumer-tolerated way of price increase. But, if you're smart you know what is going on and you still make the decision: "Is this a good value for what I am getting?" "Ok, Lays potato chips have gone up from $0.33 to $0.40 per ounce, do I still find that a good value or do I want another brand, or do I want to have coleslaw on the side instead?"
Gamers have to take responsibility for their decisions. If 80% of gamers... hell probably even half of gamers... that normally buy something like Mass Effect said "NO" and chose to play other games or do other leisure activities, then I have no doubt that the price point would change and/or the sales model would change. However most gamers are still telling EA and others that "Yes we find that a good value," so there is no logical reason to change.

Wow, that whole article looks like an advertisement.
"Xbox One Day One Edition gives you an achievement and so much more"
"That's basically an invitation to an exclusive party"
"Know this though, the Xbox One Day One Edition and Day One games are all limited in amount!"
Fuckers
