Fair warning: My job has me working at usual hours so my response time has been very slow. It will continue to be this way for the next few months

Hello and welcome to the madness!
The challenge is simple: Play and beat any 6 games, starting today, that have been featured in any given Humble Monthly/Choice bundle in one month.
The prize: God of War
Game length does not matter and I'm not looking for 100% achievement runs. So long as you play and beat 6 games, I'm happy. You can go easy mode and play a bunch of 1h games or go crazy and play 6 +30h games. So long as they were in a monthly at a given point, it is all good.
Just post a comment with either screenshots/ achievements showing that you fulfilled the criteria and I'll add on Steam and give you the link. Feel free to share your thoughts on the games you've played, but it is not required.
Why you doing this?
I hate money. That and I realized I've been subbed to the monthly for over six years (yes it has been that long, I checked) and it occurred to me that I've barely touched the games I've gotten from it, let alone played them. Figured the same would be true for a few others, so I figured this is a good way to change that. A sensible person would probably unsub in this situation, but please refer to the beginning as to why that will not happen.
I've played the first X minutes of a game, can I pick it for the event?
No. You cannot have any play time or achievements prior to the start of the event. The only exception is idle time from farming Steam cards.
Can I play a MP only game?
No. It needs to have an "end" in order for me to count it as beaten, so it needs to have a campaign/story mode.
If a game was sold as a non-Steam copy in a bundle (origin/uplay/drm-free/etc), can I pick it as a choice if I own a Steam copy?
No. The reason being that those who own a Steam copy would have an extra option that would not be available to everyone who bought the same bundle. If the game was originally sold as a non-Steam copy, but Humble later provided steam keys to everyone who bought the bundle, then the game would be allowed.
Why six games?
The first few monthlies had 6/7 games in them so I went with that.
How long are you going to do this?
Until my credit card statements gives me nightmares.
This event "ends" on February 1st when the next HB Choice releases, though the giveaway itself will end the next day. If you manage to finish game number six in between that time, feel free to post, but know that I cannot guarantee that I'll be able to give you the link in time.
Good luck, have fun and stay safe.
Thanks for reading, and may you vanquish all your enemies.

Sorry for the delay, was stuck on House Flipper and whether or not I should allow it. I have decided against allowing it for the event. Please select another game.
It's not very nice not replying for 17 days then rejecting it with only 1 day left. I even asked you in Steam chat what's wrong some days ago with no reply. You could've ask your suspicions about the game to me or any other SG member, really. I feel discouraged from participating further.
Fair about the delay but I did warn that I would be slow. Also, within the thread:
It needs to have an "end" in order for me to count it as beaten, so it needs to have a campaign/story mode.

When I'm faced with a maybe, I am stuck looking up wikis and guides about the game, as well as speaking to others who have played it. This is what I did for House Flipper. This is what I want to avoid doing but still somehow do every now and then. It is fair to complain that I could have responded to the issue quicker, but it is still on you for picking a game that had a good chance of being disqualified. Feel free to not participate in my event in the future if this has soured your experience so much.
Doesn't House Flipper have a technical endpoint in the 'Game Over' achievement?
I'm not super involved in being in this conversation and I'm sorry that all this happened but... I think you have the wrong achievement for House Flipper. The game apparently considers the game as over once you've sold each house at least once, not after completing every order. The correct achievement should be 'Game Over' and not 'Perfectionist' with the former having 'Finish the game' as its hint.
with all 4 scenario for frostpunk

any comment for my progress?
Just finished my last game! I played:
ABZU: Achievements "Reflection"
SIMULACRA 2: Achievements "Hard Boiled"
Bleed 2: Achievements "Story Clear"
Etherborn: Achievements "End"
The Henry Stickmin Collection: Achievements "The Story Ends"
Thanks again for the motivation!
Not counting Hearts of Iron IV since it does not have a campaign. Please select another game.
Had to pick something on the shorter side because of the short notice but damn didn't expect such an emotional journey, highly recommend trying Old Man's Journey! There's no achievements but here's a screenshot from the ending credits.
Done as well.
Thanks for another cool one, CJ!
Completed; games here
I hope I can still participate
Well here I go then. Started late this month but I'm in!
First up, Narita Boy. I was very curious about this one and I really loved the gorgeous pixel art and the story was beautifully done. The gameplay was cool but man oh man, the backtracking nearly killed my will to finish the game! I missed out on 2 secret rooms, which killed my chances of 100% cheevos but I don't think I'll play it again just for that. Glad I did play it once but I'm done running around.
Tried Evoland Legendary Edition but really couldn't get into it sooo next!
Next up was Framed. Gameplay was ok. Some levels were quite the pickle but nothing a fail / try again can't solve so it's not too hard. Bit repetitive though. And bugged to hell. Had to start over just to get achievements that didn't drop.
AER was colorful and relaxing. I spent way too much time just flying around (and will likely play the game again just to do that) but the story was disappointingly basic. Feels like they could have used a writer. I don't regret playing it but I was expecting more.
Figment's puzzle almost drove me crazy. The game feels like a slightly more surrealist version of Pixar's Inside Out with puzzles. Not unpleasant but damn those puzzles!
I really thought Niche wouldn't be my kind of game but I found it incredibly satisfying playing God to a small tribe of furries. I wasn't expecting to be moved when I finally made it back to the homeland but I was. Cool little game. I'll keep playing to unlock all the genes and explore all the island types in sandbox because this is really fun but I made it home so I'm marking it as finished per the story mode.
Aaaaaargh! I came so damn close to completing Röki! I was so sure I had all the achievements but I didn't. Now I'll have to play it all over again to 100% it. Oh well, maybe in a year or two with my niece when she's a tad bigger. It's a great story. The gameplay of fetch quests kinda gets in the way of the story a bit. The middle part is soooooo long with back and forth and sidequests you need to do halfway to be able to do another sidequest so you can finish the first one. You lose track of the story a little in there but it find itself again in the last part of the game and it makes it all worth it.
Yay! I am so happy I finished the games I had listed for the month. Cutting it a little close but I didn't have to switch for a shorter game so there's something.
Have to sit this one out, sadly. Good luck to everyone entering though!
have some website or tool or something for check how much time of one game is idle and how much is real play? or do you know some method how to check this?
edit: ah ok i find myself just see if game have achievement unlocked already is mean play already ok.
Had a nice holiday break last month will attempt again thank you~
Greak: Memories of azur
Neon abyss technically beating first "manager last stage boss" ends the run unlocking new bosses/levels for this roguelike, beat all the bosses~
Alright... new year... New me... Gotta comeback and beat those backlog again!
that was fast!
Didn't complete the challenge for the last two months, so I'm pretty determined to do so this time.
That's a good selection, right there.
Last month I only completed 3 games and I hope I can do it this time.
Just FYI, Civ 6 won't qualify for this.
Oh, nice! I mean, I'm not participating because I've already gifted this game to myself for New Year, but it's definitely an awesome choice.
American Fugitive - Choice August 2020
Greak: Memories of Azur - Choice December 2021
Rebel Cops - Choice January 2022
Rustler - Choice January 2022
The Henry Stickmin Collection - Choice January 2022
Timelie - Choice November 2021
looks like i have to play alot for this month.
anyone can join right?
Yep! Good luck!
Hi, so it seems you only completed 1/4 scenarios for Frostpunk. Please complete the other three for it to be counted.
main story is only the first one.
will play that other 3...
finish 4 scenarios
covid unfortunately kicked my ass before i could finish up last month's games. gonna give it another go this month.
edit- it's jan 18 and i'm just now getting well enough from covid that i even feel like playing video games. don't feel like rushing it so i'm gonna sit it out. 😐
boy oh boy
great game, hope the winner will enjoy :)
Well, I definitely won't be finishing this time... I put way too much on my plate with KCD, and rushing through isn't my style. Should have known better, but oh well.
Been a bit since I've had the time to join one of these, but excited to do this again. God of War definitely a bit of an incentive. Gotta push a bit to get the last two in a week ^.^'
JumpJet Rex: Honestly, not the worst, but definitely not great. Im typically not fond of precision platformers that have infinite jumps. The boss fights were difficult to even understand what I was supposed to be doing. The levels were too much of the same and though maybe I am spoiled by better games of this genre like Celeste or Super Meat Boy, this one feels a bit too much like a fossil. Unlike what the Backlogasaurus achievement asks, it is better to let this go extinct in the backlog
Sonic Mania: Maybe I am just bad at the Sonic games (was always a Nintendo kid growing up), but honestly, not really for me. It's a bit too fast to really know what is going on, dying happens in a lot of frustrating situations, and it felt both too long and too short. The minigames in some areas to get the better ending always felt a bit too difficult. Im assuming it is just to introduce you to them and you are supposed to go back through and the levels are designed in a way that there are numerous ways to get from point a to point b, but it honestly was just not for me. Im sure fans of the original, especially those who enjoy it for non-nostalgic reasons, would adore the game, but this still feels like a game from the past that was honestly not much of a blast.
Greak: Memories of Azur: A 2D sidescrolling action game with an interesting, yet tedious character swap mechanic. The game was solidly fine. The story wasn't super exciting and it felt a little basic. I didnt hate it, but I also didn't really get anything from. The music was fine or even good at some points. The rest of the audio left a bit to be desired. Combat was a struggle, especially while controlling multiple characters. Even at the final boss, I was just damage tanking and spamming attack. The game wasn't bad, but it mostly felt like a tech demo for a character swap mechanic with a loose story attached. Though I may be being a bit harsh on it, this one will not stick around in my memory.
Titan Souls: For many people, myself included, Death's Door was on of the highlights of 2021 game releases, especially in the indie scene. Titan Souls, a game only loosely related, was the debut title by the same company, Acid Nerve. Titan Souls is a boss rush game with an interesting mechanic. Bosses have a weak point, but die in one hit. The player, who is using only a bow and reusable arrow using a recall ability, also only has one health. In this game, similar to most boss rush games, it is a weird pseudo-hybrid of puzzle and action. The game is made in beautiful pixel art, the music is splendid throughout, and the bosses pack a punch. Some are a bit more difficult than others and there is not a lot going on in an otherwise desolate world of just you and bosses, but the game is a fun, yet short experience. There is plenty of extra content after the main game is completed, but it is definitely a solid recommendation in my books.
6 games from any bundle or all the same month?
Does not have to be from the same month
