Hmm, will your tax-office go after you for getting gifts from abroad?

Oh well, guess you'll have to make it a big backlog in 2016...

Well, you buy row games via keys usually. But now buying keys will also incur that tax. So either way, you will be paying the tax. I might have to buy 100 keys before this comes into play.

Valve doesn't charge VAT on user market, and isn't supposed to because it was already paid when user bought key from Valve.

As for income for selling things on user market, you're supposed to self-report it to proper authorities, if needed.

Buying keys from market is usually more expensive to begin with. With the exception of tf2 keys. And I had to send ID proof to valve to show that I was not a US citizen who paid taxes before I was allowed to use the market. I presume they will be taking taxes from market transactions as well.

Even banks charge interest multiple times upon the same currency.

Sigh. Even more than games I am gonna miss buying stuff from overseas.
My Gtx 980 cost me $700 delivered from newegg including about $65 shipping. Here it was $800 plus shipping.
Steam games are not an issue, but most of the other physical goods imported is :(

Ten. Whole. Percent.
I really wish I could feel for you. But since where I live that little tax is 27 (yes, TWENTY-SEVEN) percent, I find myself unable to do so. :(

Hungary. EU2 prices with the world's highest VAT, and with the third lowest wages in the entire EU (around 400 Euros monthly).
And even though the game prices are higher, the piracy rating is still lower than in Russia. :)

Well, at least you can blame taxes. Brazilian prices are going up for no reason. But yeah, that sucks. Sooner or later games will cost $500 each.

"no reason". Brazilian real has been losing value, so increasing prices is reasonable. (Thought some games do have very unreasonable prices)

If things works like that then every single store would suffer with high prices =/
Unfortunatelly that makes no sense, if brazilian real is losing value and they still want to sell games here, making prices more expensive won't help, that's how economy works.
If people lost purchasing power we make things cheaper to still make sells.

If I get it well, you'll get a 10% tax on foreign buys. Will it stack with VAT ? How much is Australian VAT by the way ?
