After you installed the client it will automatically try to download the game.
If you have played the game before you just need to login. If you didn't you will receive an error message.

Yeah, and you need an account that already played the game to even access it.
Edit: if you can get an up to date version of the game and launch it without prompting any updates in the launcher you can get it now.

From the time of this announcement, no new players will be able to start playing ARENA.
If you played ARENA previously and have since uninstalled the game, you can re-install it using the same Wargaming account credentials and access the offer from in-game.

played it when back when it was on steam. now i cannot seem to be able to download through the launcher they have...
fun fact: when i try to activate my old key from the game as to start the download, the steam client crashes !!

I had to reinstall launcher but, I had existing account when I used to play World of Tanks sadly it won't let me install it. I thought maybe you used a work around or something

Сделал также, при нажатии на кнопку «Получить подарок» в Варгейминоговом клиенте переходит по ссылке и выдает: «Платежи с вашей учетной записи в Total War: ARENA не производились.»
При запуске игры требует обновления. Обновиться не дает, пишет: «Updating the game is unavailable for unathorized users. Please log in and try to update the game again.»

not sure if sharing unofficial installers to F2P games is allowed
Install wargame launcher, log-in. Close it (kill process in task manager).
Install TW Arena from alternative source,
Open wargame launcher,
Click "import installed games" button. Make sure to deselect autoupdate when importing it and trying to change the language to english before launching breaks it. so don't.
Open TW Arena game (click Play, nothing else) and do the tutorial
You will find "important news" button in-game menu (right corner) (I got a pop up and clicked the golden button in the middle of the screen)
*You may have had to run it with a cis account and disable automatic updates in the launcher, but I can't be sure, the other things could have broken it with my first attempt

You need to start over, if it's asking you to update it means something went wrong.
the second after importing it, the play button should be clickable, if not either you have the wrong game version or you have the settings for automatic updates enabled in the launcher.
