New Yorkers Trying Stinky Tofu For The Very First Time

(just a guess, but might be not only for new yorkers...)

There are various types of foods that use soybeans.
However, when it is processed into “fermented foods”, it changes to “foods whose tastes are divided by people”.
If there are people who like local people or foreigners, there will be people who don't like them.

😁
By the way, I'm not good at “natto”.
You can eat it by adding ginger, leeks, and wasabi to the soy sauce and misrepresenting the aroma.
I don't feel like buying and eating at my convenience.

yes yes yes... video was just for a laugh.

we have cheeses (and other things as well) in Italy that will beat that tofu very very easily. and i just adore those!

i still have to taste a well prepared tofu, tho ...always been very open to every food, from every country and culture :D

edit: as you've said below, my last memory of tofu taste is... no taste at all :P

Tofu that feels the taste of soy milk is expensive ...( ´Θ)(´Θ)(Θ )...
For some reason, the blue smell of soybeans has changed to taste.
Delicious things are delicious.(High price!)( ・Θ・).;'.、

By the way, “soybean” is not used.
"Fake tofu" has "egg tofu".
The difficulty level is low. It is possible to make it at home.
(If you make even soup stock or buy seasonings)
To be honest, this is easier to eat and delicious for people in any country.
(Don't say poor tongue XD)

ok then... the one i've tasted was fake one, egg tofu. can't remember if it was in soup, but i do remember the restaurant...

we have plenty of Chinese restaurants here, and we -italians- liked them for years (very cheap, affordable prices)... lately we are all for "sushi", very "à la mode"... sushi everywhere.

-hella smart- Chinese quickly switched to "Sushi Restaurant" "All You Can Eat Sushi" and, obviously, "Japanese Cuisine"... prices are still cheap (but you won't find any Japanese, nor people nor food)

but, it's very easy to spot a (Chinese) "Japanese Restaurant": just look at prices!
(we also have "real" Japanese ones, and prices are ten times of those fake ones :D)

tldr: i've only eaten fake tofu!

Egg tofu is delicious! Add a bit of cornstarch slurry and salt to cover, and lightly pan fry. Mmm

oh mamma mia... can already smell that "lightly pan fry".
was kinda worried about "cornstarch slurry" so googled a bit:

A cornstarch slurry is a mixture of a cold liquid with cornstarch. It is used as a thickening agent, and is particularly common in Asian sauces. A typical cornstarch slurry will consist of 2 parts cold water and 1 part cornstarch

so, easy to find and prepare.
guess what's my next problem? finding some very very fake tofu, now!
(but this is really something i have to try. thanks so much, jatan)

Every tofu is stinky in my opinion :D And from my experience tofu tastes like a shoe, but I'm sure it can be prepared better.

Does tofu smell? The tofu processed as “fermented food” in Taiwan, China and Southeast Asia is smelly.

Ordinary japan tofu does not smell.ヾノ'Θ'o)
(However, tofu hurts in 24 to 48 hours.)
(Determination method? Moisture pulls the thread. If it is sour, it is no longer good.)
(It will last a little longer if the water to preserve the tofu is replaced)

I boiled tofu with kelp stock and ate it with green onions and ginger paste.😋

My parents love that stinky tofu, but I find it a little too salty. Gotta have it with lots of bland vegetables and meat to balance out. It's hard to tell when it expires. Smells bad, so it must still be good :)
