I have not even played the third though I must admit mostly due the price still being 39.99 so even at 75% off I can not get it as cheap as I want.I'm not saying it's not worth the price I'm just a cheap bastard though really giving the amount of games I have has pushed me even further into cheapness since I have plenty of other stuff to play.

Also, something tells me this will have some stupid micro-transaction or some pretty weak DLC that is overpriced.

Yay, Relic. Cannot wait for features copy-pasted from lesser known and better games, and a large focus on stellar visuals over gameplay mechanics.
More interested on AoE2DE. This means AoE2 will have three different editions now simultaneously.

Yeah I wonder why they are redoing AOE II again? The HD version works pretty nicely, unless they are going to fully recreate everything from scratch? In which case they might also break some balancing.

I will not comment on a video with 0% actual futage of the game, but... hype!

Modern Relic?

Haha... yeah... my thoughts exactly. I'll reserve full judgement until it's actually out, but it could well be loaded to the roof with DLC and poor balancing.

I have to be honest and say - when you announce AoE IV... the whole room claps with anticipation... and then you announce a remastered version of AoE II (DE)... do people then clap again? How does one get excited about DE when IV was just announced lol.

Funny, because this was foreshadowed by Bill Gates himself on Reddit. Someone requested a new Age of Empires, and he personally replied with a "I'll see what I can do" (This was during one of his completely unrelated to videogames AMA). And a month or two later: Here you go, hope it's worth the wait! That was for the Age of Empires 1 remake I believe.

Then people started requesting Age of Empires IV like crazy. I'm not saying that's Bill's doing, but it's possible that Bill's initial suggestion to Microsoft triggered the execs thinking: "Hm, so there's money to be made!".

It's such a short time ago that I can't help but feel it has to be connected. Really cool.

Cant wait ;)WOLOLO
where is the release date microsoft?and please relic dont make moba out of this.and put it on steam eventually cause i think this is going to hurt sales of this game if it is exclusive to microsoft platform.i will probably need to switch to windows 10 sooner or later.

Hmmm nice... but, if it is Windows 10 exclusive, count me out and COH2 also has some pretty appalling DLC practises, so if this follows suite, AOE II might not be replaced as the best version of the game just yet.

As some of the comments on youtube say, this looks like AoE II: 2, and I'm fine with that.
I still remember they hinting ages ago at AoE IV taking place during WW1 tho.

Tbh, I'm really not sure how well such a game scales. Controlling 50 brain-dead units and building a fairly tiny city was already a pain: something as big as on this trailer gives me a headache by anticipation rather than an urge to play...

(o゚ο½₯Θο½₯) + Soon? +

interested.
At that time, if the NPC limit of the game was 50, it would be boring, so adjusted it to around 100 and I enjoyed searching for multiplayer matches on the IRC channel.
At that time, there were no esports competitions. And even if there was a small tournament, it was strange to go there.
I feel the flow of time.
