As of today, Boss Key Productions is effectively no more.
Four years ago I set out to make a world class video game studio and I hired some of the best talent in the videogame industry. They worked tirelessly to produce quality products and, while we had our ups and down, I'd like to think we had fun doing it. LawBreakers was a great game that unfortunately failed to gain traction, and, in a last ditch attempt we scrambled to do our take on the huge battle royale genre with Radical Heights which was well received, however, it was too little too late.

As for myself, I'm going to take some time of and reflect. I need to focus on myself and family as well as my Aussie, Teddy, who is slowly fading from us. Videogames will forever be a part of who I am and I hope to make something new again someday, however, I need to withdraw and take this time.

To those of you who have supported myself and the studio these last fo[u]r years, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart and everyone who came to work for me.

Please note that server for Radical Heights will remain up for the near future.

Thanks again,

Cliff

A speculation is the developers were not informed before the closure announcement: https://twitter.com/ron_lajoie/status/996093337672273920

I hate to be the guy to ask, "who didn't see this coming?"... and yet.

The closure happened sooner than I anticipated that's for sure.

Go back to Epic Games, Cliff, I'm begging you at this point. :(

Hardly believe Epic Games would hire a man who wasted so much cash for so little in return.

They can find him a role within EG that has nothing to do with wasting money. I think he just got a tad bit ahead of himself trying to break off from Epic and tried shaking up the gaming industry, which didn't work, obviously.

Uhm, not surprissed at all, that new game of theirs really looked like desperation in digital form.
On a side note, what's an Aussie in this context?

Probably an Australian breed of dog.

Assuming a dog, as it's a breed.

Didn't knew that, only have heard Aussie as short for Australian. Thanks for enlightening me.

"Australian Shepherd
Dog breed
The Australian Shepherd, often known simply as the "Aussie", is a medium-sized breed of dog that was, despite its name, developed on ranches in the Western United States during the 19th century." Wikipedia

That's really too bad. It's unfortunate that just one failure was all it took to sink his company. But I guess it was a pretty big one. Lawbreakers was totally DOA at launch.
I thought Radical Heights had real potential. I liked the humor and gameplay and thought it would be a worthy addition to the list of battle royal games. It sucks it won't be finished. I wonder how pissed people who bought the founder's pack are going to be when they hear the news.

Early support of games these days is a known risk. They may be upset but it's not a reasonable situation to justify backlash. (Under the assumption that RH is still in early access/Alpha/Beta state.)

Shame, Lawbreaker's could have been good if they'd just launched it F2P. Haven't heard of Radical Heights until now but it doesn't look like I was missing out on much.
