Yep, its impossible to know if someone bought it or not, so they just gave it for free to everyone.

They didn't as of last week. I just played through the whole game. Funny how 0.1% of people have them though. SAM cheaters. :D

microsoft cut the GFWL support, also the game was patched, so probably now runs on pure steamworks, with functional achievements.

Same with Batman: Arkham Asylum but even though achievements are shown they just don't work. Could be the same here. So I want confirmation.

A similar thing has happened with Skyrim not too long ago. People who owned it has received the Dawnguard DLC for free. Shortly after that the DLC was removed from people's libraries (apparently, only from those who haven't bought it already).

Don't expect it to be a real deal..., but who knows...

They created new packages witouth Minerva's Den and took old one's out of sale.
That said GMG and other still have keys with Minerva's Den and Retail (DVD) copy activates Minerva's Den too.

Comment has been collapsed.

The difference with Skyrim is that it was an update for the game.
People are getting the free DLC and it's showing on their libraries, and it wasn't due to an update.

I'd rather an update to remove any obligaroty GfWL requirement from every game that currently uses it. And have all their multiplayer/server based features move to another service so they will still work.

But this is nice too.

The OP only mentioned the free DLC, and previous comments in the thread were discussing the patching out of GFWL, making all kinds of wild and stupid assertions or assumptions. Hence, your comment seemed only another one saying the game this thread was actually referencing should have GFWL removed (as Bioshock is part of your "every game" reference) thus seemed needlessly reactionary.

Aside from that, "and have all their multiplayer/server based features move to another service so they will still work" - was also done in this patch for Bioshock. The way you ended your comment - "but this is nice too" - was a reaction to the OP which, again, only talked about the free DLC.

All together, it seemed you too hadn't simply read the actual "News" page for the game in Steam, and were just as annoyingly oblivious to the actual changes to Bioshock as most of the rest of the thread. Hence, my reply.

wow.

I have no fucking clue on what you are talking about, beside the confirmation that you missed the point by a mile.

Or do you seriously believe that I could suggest with a straight face that every game on Steam that requires GFWL not only gets patched out of it, but also modified so they could keep their GFWL based multiplayer/leaderboard/whatever services working, just like that? I thought that the my post was exaggerated enough so I wouldn't need to put a big ass jest hashtag at the end.

If you don't understand my post, your english and grasp of semantics is lacking. It's not my fault, nor does it warrant your swearing and general belligerence and pissy attitude.

And are you now suggesting you meant your original post in jest? With sarcasm? Because it doesn't in any way show any form of sarcasm. In fact, "an update to remove any obligaroty GfWL requirement from every game that currently uses it // have all multiplayer/server based features move to another service so they will still work" sounds like exactly what most people discussing the GFWL closure have been wanting, and it's an entirely reasonable thing to want. Nothing there that in any way would hint at sarcasm.

And if you were trying (and failing) to be sarcastic, what are you actually saying? What are you getting at? That they shouldn't patch GFWL out of all games that currently have it? You're making no sense and seem more to be pissy because you feel attacked by my post, and don't understand what I'm saying, so you go on the offensive and try to claim you were trying to sarcastic.. Try brushing up on your comprehensive reading skill.

"what are you actually saying?"

That I was expecting that every game would get the same treatment that Bioshock 2, as if that was an easy enough feat, but since that didn't happen, then just Bioshock + a free DLC would have to do. Which is a preposterously high expectation.

Now feel free to keep telling yourself and whoever feels like listening/reading how your reading skill is "never do wrong", how you feel disturbed by the usage of the word fuck, etc.

If you have already purchased BioShock 2 through a different digital partner, we’ve got you covered. Simply take the same game activation key you already own and “activate” it within Steam.

Has anyone tried activating a non-Steam key yet?

When did you try it? Recently? The reason all keys work now is because GFWL will be dead soon so they made it Steamworks.
Wouldn't make any sense to not accept used GFWL keys lol.
