No, it ain't the Steambox. It's just a PC that tries to take the place of consoles but fails miserably due to having a higher price than the consoles.

I didn't pay attention to the specs but they said it's also more powerful than consoles.

The piston is unreleased, so no specs confirmed yet.

"quad-core, 64-bit x86-based processor running at up to 3.2GHz,
includes 384 programmable discrete-class graphics cores and is supported with 8GB of DDR3
RAM" is a confirmed specs, but at the same time unconfirmed because the details about the CPU and GPU is unknown except for the stuff there already.

Damn. Since I assume this is really true, I would not support this at all even though I like the concept of being able to swap out parts.

Even if it was more powerful, the games wouldn't be made for that "console" . that means that it will run worse than the game that is made for one HW only.. as it is now at consoles.

Welp, guess PC's are shit then. Hear that guys? PC gaming is dead, lets all pack up and buy a console instead.

I am not saying that in a slightest, I don't even own any console (apart from NES) .. PC's aren't shit, just aren't that effective because there's a lot of variations, unlike consoles where there's just one piece of HW on which the developers tests their game before releasing it.

lol first time I notice how they put their name on a XBox 360 controller rip-off.. it's identical. If they release it this way I'm pretty sure they'll get sued for it.

If that's the case, Razer would have been sued long time already.

Razer controllers are licensed

What makes you so sure that Xi3 hasn't bought a license for the design then?

also you dont have to reinvent the wheel when there is already a very handy design to use.
i read that you can buy/rent the design licence, as always its all about the money

Just overxpensive.

you cannot call it overprized due to the fact that its the first very very small real PC that is so powerful!
its unique!
you always have to pay more when you want something special

Well it's not that powerful. I agree the size is amazing and it looks good but that's about it:(

Why is it called the Piston? It looks more like a really tall manifold spacer.

No, thats not the Steambox.

It's ridding on the coattails of Steam though.

Not worth the price, wait for the actual Steam Boxes....

Agreed. From what I understand, Steam Machines have better parts for a cheaper price. $700-$1500 maybe.

Depends, I feel like they might eat some of the cost to take a bite out of the console market.

Time will tell I guess.
