Omloop Het Nieuwsblad Elite

After my Tour de France event I decided to do small events for the cycling spring and autumn classics as well.

Today's one is obviously a bit late but hopefully I'll have the upcoming ones up a few days before each race.

How it works

Predict who is going to win the race; that's all. :)

Normally entries close when the race starts but since I am late today I will say you can enter predictions till 14:00 local time (UTC +1).

Since it's a one day race just enter your predictions here and not under the giveaway (yes, there's a giveaway, did I mention that?).

Once all the classics have finished I will create a special winner's train event for everyone who correctly predicted a winner. There's quite a few classics so you will have ample opportunities to get a winning prediction. Once the season is over I will create a new thread to remind the winners so they can get their entry into the train.

Favorites

  • Last year's winner was Greg Van Avermaet and he is looking to win again and continue on from his great season last year.
  • We can't have a favorites list without mentioning Peter Sagan; he moved to a new team this year but then he doesn't need a team the way he rides.
  • Alexander Kristoff started his season well as always but for some reason he never did well in this race; maybe today his luck will change?
  • Ian Stannard only started this race twice and won both times but by his own admission the weather is too nice today which does not favor him.
  • Ian's colleague at Sky Luke Rowe has been doing well already this season and might have the better shot; last year he was the instigator.
  • It's the last season for Tom Boonen and he undoubtedly wants to show the people something special at this first Belgian classic of the year. He's also in this list so I can link this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnJAmX9Z0DI, love those girls. :p
  • Sep Vanmarcke left Lotto Jumbo this year and it would be quite typical for him to now start winning again.
  • For local boy Edward Theuns winning here will be extra special.
  • Tiesj Benoot started the season well and he'll know his way around these parts.
  • Back at Lotto Jumbo, Lars Boom is gonna be extra motivated to win one of the classics and since they are also bringing Dylan Groenewegen today, that might give him some more leeway.
  • Niki Terpstra would want the race conditions to be a lot poorer than they are at this time, just like Stannard.

I'll go with Tommeke. It's his last season and hey just because he's from a neighbouring town where I used to live. :p
Avermaet should be strong... but so many that could have a chance at it. :)

Not entering to win or anything... and can't watch it online anyway. Sporza with their Geo blocks (and me not having a decent vpn atm) :/

That crash... Seems like half the favorites were on the ground there.

Van Avermaet does it again... Quite impressive.

Next week: Strade Bianche.
