Would you like to see some preliminary screen shots of the WIP for the event? (Minor spoilers, think of it like a movie trailer.)
I don't like surprises. But sometimes i do like them. And I'm always impressed by your events so I voted for "No spoilers please" xD

Looks like the "No" crowd is winning so far. That's ok -- it will teach patience to the others. ;)

I think I have two games that should fit scary theme :) Maybe more but I have to do some cleaning in my bundles first xD

After our chat last night, I went back and managed to clear up another 8 bundles or so. Many more to go, though. :D

No pressure one way or the other. Just let me know within the next week or so. :)

Perfect timing! I was just about to post in this thread about intended start date, etc., now that I'm a little closer to being finished. Let's chat over IM. I have a spreadsheet where I'm tracking GAs and how they tie in to the event itself.
Oh, and the games don't have to be scary, so long as they thematically fit the Halloween theme. A lot of the ones I have are (supposedly) scary, but some are just things like platformers that feature a skeleton or something. But something like, you know, Joy Pony is probably not right for this event. Or maybe it is...I find that game scary as hell. :D :D :D

Awesome! I'll start trying to put together all of the GAs and where/how they're tied in to the event in about a week. Let's chat on Steam IM and we can get it all coordinated. Thanks!

That sounds great! I accepted your friend request...shoot me an IM whenever, and once we sync up on the games, I can get them added to the spreadsheet. I'm going to try to create all of the GAs tomorrow (Oct 2) so that I can begin to tie them in to the event properly. Thanks. :)

Hey, it's no pressure. I have enough to cover the event. It's just that sometimes I do these things and then five people hit me up afterward with, "man, if I'd known about it, I would have thrown a few keys in there too!" It's more than fine to just be a player!!! 😎👍🏻

Nah, it's all good. I haven't collected any extras from anyone yet. Want to do that in the next 48 hours or so...that way, I'll be able to place them properly in the...event. [So hard to talk around what things are going to be and not create spoilers :D]

No problem -- I hope that the whole thing turns out well and that you enjoy playing!

UPDATE: (Sep 30 2019)
Good news: things are on-schedule for the event. I still have quite a bit of work to do, but I have all of all of the core/essential work done. What remains is end-to-end testing, what I call "prettification," and creation of the GAs.
So, for anyone who would like to donate keys to the event, now is the time that we should start talking more seriously. Let's talk over Steam IM, and I can get the donations added to the spreadsheet so that I know what all I'm working with and can scale things appropriately. I want to start creating GAs around the 2nd of October. This will give me enough time to place them in the event infrastructure and test that all of the links work.
Right now, I'm intending for the event to start on October 7th and run through mid-day (CT - US) on All Hallow's Day (Nov 1). Stay tuned! More to come!
Original Post:
So yes, I'm hard at work on another event that I plan to launch the first or second week of October to run through, you guessed it, Halloween. The theme shouldn't be a surprise, so I won't make it one. :D
I put in a poll because I thought I'd get the community's opinion on whether or not you'd like some WIP screen shots of some of what I have so far. This would definitely let you know what kind of event it is, and would give you an idea of some of the art, but would otherwise not give much of anything else away. But, I thought it would be best to get a pulse-check on what people think before I do that. I'll post some pics (or not) depending upon what the polls says in a couple of days. If it's too close to call, then everything will just have to remain a surprise.
FYI, I have little more than 60 keys for the event so far, and plan to add another 10 or so of my own. If anyone would like to donate any keys for games that have a Halloween/scary/horror theme, I'm open to that to expand the potential wins in here. I would give you the parameters and let you make the GAs yourself so that you can have your CV. 😎 I would just need the invite-only links after they're created so that I can associate them with the event as appropriate. If you're interested, reply here and then we'll move things to IM on Steam.
I think that I have at least another 30-40 hours of work to put into this event before it's completed, which is why I don't have a hard start date yet. But the time range is definitely doable, as I feel like I'm about 50% done. I'm trying to make this one a lot of fun; challenging, but achievable by anyone who has a little bit of fortitude and patience. I'll keep everyone updated as we get closer to launch.
Cheers!
Grez
