Yes, so it's free to play now. Looked at the announcement and it's permanent. I think it's nice of them, I got a key from when they were giving away the Japanese version and thought it was a decent way to get some new words in your vocabulary.
But that makes me think, is the HB thing permanent too? I'll have to remove it in that case.

I would say it's the same, yes. The HB thing is DRM-free, but they are still selling DLC languages. I expect the key provided by HB to activate the same 3 languages that are free on Steam.

I would guess all the issues is because the appid on storepage is a DLC so its probably wierdly configured and wasnt recogniced when it went live, and therefore they made a few changes and just created a new package.
It says it shouldnt grant the free package if you own the DLC, but even thoose who own the base game can add it and I guess thats also because its a DLC and not shown as "the game".

Yeah it shows me the same thing but don't worry take the games on Steam DB then click "open steam client Bootstrapper", click on "cancel" and these games will automaticely show up in your library

This used to be a thread called "Limited time, 100% Free-to-keep PC games right now", where I, together with many helpful members of the community, documented which PC games were free to claim at any given moment. I started it when the COVID-19 pandemic started in the whole world and developers/publishers were doing promotions faster than one could keep track of everything. Since the situation is calmer now, keeping track of things to that level isn't needed.
The thread is now a free games news thread which relies on comments to function - if you find an interesting offer for a free game, feel free to comment and let others know! Here I have also put links to useful places where you can find out about and/or collect free games as they appear.
