Yes I know I can just use foobar or winamp, but I just want to try these so called metro app if they are any good.

Don't care if it is paid or not I just need it to play tons of music files (especially flac, alac, ogg) and can read multiple playlist filetypes (.fpl, m3u, .wpl, etc)

Tried that but it wants me to put my NAS drive on the library.

Plex, but Plex is overkill for your situation and needs additional effort.

What is wrong with the built in Music one? I hear it is pretty good.

I really think you have two choices. Suck it up and fix your MediaMonkey problem or join the rest of us that don't use Metro, at all.

I can't actually use the Windows Store because I have it turned off and the web version is limited. I see Music ++ and Music 2.0 as possible options. Music ++ looks promising, though I am not sure it plays your own stuff (It looks like it does).

music++ is only streaming. music 2.0 has no flac nor playlist :/
Flex looks promising but I can't try it. 5$ too steep

It says you can download the music, so it can't be just streaming. I just don't know if it plays your stuff or just stuff it downloads.

Plex is nice. Basically you use a centralized server and send it to anywhere you want. You might not like that, though. It is similar to XBMC, just centralized from a single server, sending the same info to all devices.

Xbox Music is the one I use. Added benefit of streaming any song from the interwebs

Giving up is no fun, but nothing will top MediaMonkey (Out of the available options). and you didn't like it, so well, not a bad move to give up.

Some final finds, no guarantee they are any good. 4u2Play and PlaylistX.

4u2Play might have some potential.

I gave mediamonkey a second chance and found a final nail on the coffin for it. The playlist type .m3u doesn't handle unicode characters well so It fails to detect all the music in the playlist

It's not Metro anymore, it's Modern now.
