Welcome all to the 2nd "2in20" (Two Games in 20 Hours) Event.
Ran the first one last year around this same time.
34 people have successfully finished.
Because we had over 30 people complete the event, it means I might actually run another event in a couple of months. (Thank you.)
We have about 10 other people who I have deemed eligible for entrance into the bonus giveaway.
The event will start and end within a specific time of 10 days as announced by myself (00:00, 1st - 23:59, 10th August NZST)
Play ONE or TWO games that require a minimum combined total time of 20 hours or more to beat, within the event time
Games must meet these requirements (and are subject to further discretion by myself):
Comment with the games you'd like to play:
If anyone's interested I also played 2in20 as well (but on Gamepass for the month):
Comment has been collapsed.
Are you likely to join the event?
The Great Ace Attorney released today so I'm going to be playing that atm, it depends on me being done with the game before the event starts. It also depends on whether or not I'm interested in the game that gets picked. I don't know if that counts as an entry but take it as an interest.
Oh have fun with the game, I'll be playing the choice I picked (At least chaos child) either way but yh certainly depends on the game
Thank you, I waited for it for 5 years!!! I'm a super duper mega Ace Attorney fan so this was a no-brainer preorder for me.
Oh nice, so far only did like 2 cases for phoenix wright but it was a decent game. I'll definitely pick up the other one, one day
one or two games allowed now. Let me know if you're in.
If I participate...
HuniePop 2: Double Date with 13 hours. Savior looks like it's the ending achievement.
The Walking Dead: A New Frontier with 8 hours
I'd love to participate but I do not know yet if I'll be able to, depending on the days it takes place. I'm gonna be away from home between 5 and 11 August, so I won't be able to play anything then.
A few games I thought of playing:
Tell Me Why - 9,5h
Batman: The Enemy Within - 10h
Wolfenstein: The New Order - 11,5h
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood - 6h
Doom - 11,5h
Well, the event will probably start this weekend if I get enough interest.
If that's the case, I don't think I'll have enough time to participate.
If you change your mind - Tell Me Why isn't eligible as it was a freebie.
I won't accept Wolfenstein Old Blood, as it's too short.
I would like to participate in the event, if I won't end up in your blacklist again.
2 games to play:
Syberia 3 - Achievements / HLTB: 12h
A Plague Tale: Innocence - Achievements / HLTB: 10½h
Hades - Achievements / HLTB: 21h - finished. End achievement - The Family Secret
And for suggestions, tbh, I don't know. You've already had the best idea - to use the community wishlist.
Don't you remember the first rule of blacklists?
Also, getting suggestions from participants makes more sense cos they're the one's who are gonna benefit from a giveaway they want - not the other 99.9999% of SG users.
Since the rules were changed I edited my entry. Hope it's ok
These are kinda subject to change a little bit depending on when the event ends up starting (and if I can find more suitable options) but consider me on board like last time. ^_^
Deleveled - 7.5 hours
99 Spirits - 13 hours
Since I swaped Deleveled for Particle Fleet, here are the links again for easy access in one spot:. :)
oh you would need to give your opinion on 99 spirits. its 1 i keep looking at but im not so sure on it
Sure thing. :)
I won't accept this based on low poll numbers for both of these games. Swap Deleveled out for a longer game and I'll accept it.
It's a SG win though, and I plan on 100%-ing both games in that time frame. >.<
Well, if that's not enough to convince you, I guess I could switch Deleveled for... Particle Fleet (9.5 hours)? ...That one doesn't really have more votes on HLTB... I guess the games I play tend to be not too popular. :/
(As a... less desirable backup backup I could also do Sunrider: Liberation Day. It's also 9.5 hours and has a few extra votes. ^_^' )
PS: If you make a vote for which games to giveaway, may I suggest a multiple choice vote (so, somewhere outside of SG)? Aka, ask people to vote for all the games in the list which they are interested in rather than picking just one. Then the most desired games will have the highest % of people who voted for them.
Main story is the rule, 100% is optional.
The problem was that it barely hits 20hours (which is the minimum playtime I'm requiring) with the two original choices.
I'm happy to accept Particle Fleet or Sunrider: LD as your secondary game.
EDIT: AND THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I USE MAIN GAME AVERAGE AS THE MINIMUM, (and why low poll numbers are inaccurate) - Particle Fleet average was 9.5 hours, and you end up 100%ing it in 8.5 hours.
Yooka-Laylee - 15 Hours
World of Goo - 6 Hours
I'm interested so far, but will depend on GA, I guess
Ys I & II Chronicles+ 13.5h 🏆 / Republique 10.5h 🏆
The Whispered World 10.5h 🏆 / Mages of Mystralia 8.5h 🏆
ps. I know Republique + Mages won't do, I just hope that Ys has a normal controller support
1) Ys I 🏆 ("De-Fact-o" achievement) & Ys II 🏆 ("Darm It!" achievement)
I played Ys I&II with Logitech F310. It should be okay I think.
oh, that's reassuring, thanks! :D
No problem. Without a controller the boss fights would be like Souls-like. :)
hehe, since I never play (when possible) with keyboard and mouse, it will be even harder xD
phew, just beaten the first part of my first choice (Ys I) and I must admit, for a good 10-15 minutes I thought I'm gonna drop it and find another game for the event ><. Last boss is a hell even on normal difficulty
I would like to participate :) Mostly because I want additional motivation to clear some games from my backlog xD
Edited because read rules again xD
Wolfenstein: The New Order - 11,5h, HLTB
Bombshell - 10h, HLTB
And if they seems too short I will replace them with this one:
Phantom Doctrine, achievements
probably i will participate, i have many games in mind to play i will decide which 2 when the event starts.
for giveaway it would be nice to see:
+1 for Persona 4 Golden
Is there some prize or something? You explain the rules and restrictions but I’m not sure what this event is.
This event is for entrance into a giveaway for (Game TBA)
This event is for entrance into a giveaway for (Game TBA)
It will be a (likely) highly wishlisted, non-bundled game or games (depends on the price). Sort of like cjcomplex's Monthy in a Month
Have edited my main post now to make this a bit clearer.
Oh cool! Thanks that makes sense, I'm definitely interested! I won his giveaway last month for It Takes Two but beating six games was really a task because I didn't choose short games lol.
My submissions would be Supraland | 13 hours | 12.8h played (that HLTB of 13h was pretty spot on), with the final achievement being Win! Towards the end this game relied heavily on colors, especially with the final boss fight, and I'm red/green colorblind and there was no colorblind mode so I had to look up how to do it >.<
And Opus Magnum | 20.7 hours | 0h played, final achievement: The Way of the Alchemist
This is my new favorite puzzle game EVER!! There is not one particular solution but you have tools and give programmed instructions and there are no limitations on how you solve the puzzle so you can make a super convoluted solution that works just to get it done or you can try to streamline it for speed, size, or cost, and there are some CRAZY solutions for each of those metrics. I am so so so excited about this game and am so glad I played it, I will definitely end up replaying it probably multiple times because it's so addicting to try and make your machine just a bit faster or just a bit smaller.
I won't accept this, it barely hits 20 hours, and not enough people have polled for TTS.
Supraland with a longer game will be fine.
Ok, how about Opus Magnum instead for 28 hours total
Absolutely fine, thanks.
Supraland link https://steamcommunity.com/id/Chadworthy/stats/appid/813630/achievements
Thank you, not sure how I mixed up the general achievements link.
Forgot to list my prospective games.
Batman: The Enemy Within - HLTB 10 hours / Achievements / 0h time
Wolfenstein: The New Order - HLTB 11.5 hours / Achievements / 0h time
Pyre - HLTB 11 hours / Achievements / 3.1h idle time
Batman: Arkham Asylum - HLTB 11 hours / Achievements / 1.4h idle time
Marvel's Avengers - HLTB 11.5 hours / Achievements / 4.1h idle time
In Avengers I did open the game to claim some limited-time freebies in the in-game shop. If you exclude it, I understand your decision.
I ended up completing:
Marvel's Avengers - Achievements ("New Girl Makes Good" is the final storyline achievement to finish the main "Reassemble" campaign) Screenshot
Beaten in about 13-14 hours, with some extra playtime to experiment with the "endgame" missions during 4x XP bonus period.
I can often find it hard to articulate my thoughts on a game, but it feels particularly difficult with Avengers. The whole package feels like something that could have been amazing but was hampered by insistences on having a "live service" post-campaign gameplay loop.
Unfortunately, I never quite got the hang of the combat; there is definitely depth there, but all the abilities, gear, skill points and mechanics mesh together to create unnecessary layers of complexity. Gear in particular feels like a convoluted, unsatisfying mess where the majority of gear doesn't really feel different and gives unsatisfying bonuses, embodying some of the worst tendencies of big-budget "AAA" game design in games with stats and RPG elements. That system in particular could use a major overhaul. It feels like having a big cast of diverse heroes goes over more smoothly in a more narrowly tailored game like Marvel Heroes, where the isometric camera can help keep things grounded. I don't really mind the relative lack of "iconic" Marvel locations and villains, but I do wish the gameplay maps and objectives that are present had more variation and dynamic elements.
At its heart, Kamala Khan's story is about a kid who wants to be like her heroes, which is done well and a suitable theme for a superhero ensemble game. It has its share of cheesy platitudes and cliches, but it mostly comes with the territory in this line of work. The post-launch story campaigns seem interesting, but probably something where I would want to get some friends to join me.
Batman: The Enemy Within - Achievements
Took about 9 hours.
Some of the efforts to make the gameplay feel more involved, like adding more button prompts with increased complexity, could feel annoying. But overall, I feel both Telltale Batman games are solid and The Enemy Within is probably in the top 5 of the studio's best games. Like its predecessor, The Enemy Within tends to pay off more story beats early on than you would expect from most Telltale works, but raises the stakes quickly to follow up. The writers also deftly weaved in the moral questions and quandaries that define Batman's philosophy and personal crusade.
I've said it a few times before, but I'm not as concerned about the "in Telltale games your choices don't really matter!" argument, because in the game's most tense moments I really do buy in and feel like I'm making serious decisions with consequences. I have a couple I want to take back, but it looks like the series is on ice for a long while anyway.
Oops, I see them now ;)
I would definitely like to join! Challenges to the backlog are always appreciated. :)
Suggestions: I already +1'd Return of the Obra Dinn and Nanotale: Typing Chronicles. My third suggestion would be Loop Hero, available from both Humble and Fanatical.
I'll start with these two games if they're acceptable, maybe add some backup choices tomorrow when I'm not so tired.
edit: Added a new shorter game and several backups.
And if I get tired of all those games, I might unwind with Spiritfarer since that's one of the prizes.
Choose a longer 2nd game please.
Edited my post with a new shorter game, plus a few backups.
Thank you :)
I will play:
The Pillars of the Earth | HTLB | Achievements
Together with one of these games:
Batman: The Enemy Within | HTLB | Achievements
Battle Chef Brigade | HTLB | Achievements
The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav | HTLB | Achievements
Your game picks are too short. I won't accept them because only one of them is over 10 hours.
Thank you for your replay and sorry for my mistake.
Then I would play one of the games above together with:
The Pillars of the Earth | HTLB | Achievements
( I have two hours Idle time at the game, but at the achievements you can see, that I didn´t play it)
Would this be okay?
Absolutely fine. I really enjoyed Pillars of the Earth. The quasi-historical setting was fairly unique, and a lot of effort put into the game.
Also enjoyed Battle Chef Brigade, though it got crazy chaotic near the end :D
I'd like to participate. Some of the games I think I'm gonna play:
Biomutant - 11h - cheevos
Resident Evil Village - 9.5h - cheevos
Beyond: Two Souls - 10.5h - cheevos
Pyre - 11h - cheevos - 3.2h idle time
Legend of Mana - $29.99
Phantom Abyss - $24.99
Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection - $29.99
I won't accept RE:V + BEYOND combo (barely hits 20hrs), but any other combination will be fine.
Added links to stores of the suggested games
This comment was deleted 1 month ago.
Oh nice, I'll still be doing 2 games just cuz I can combine the 2 and I don't trust myself with visual novel times but its nice that people could possibly just choose 1 longer game
It's definitely nice that people could commit to a single 20+ hour game now! If I hadn't started Days Gone a couple of days ago, I may have challenged myself to beat that for the event :D
Yeah I'm planning to do chaos child which is classed as 32 hours. Considering chaos head is classed as 24 hours but im at chapter 7 of 10 5 and a half hours I don't trust that chaos child is true but it could surprise me.
But yeah if I was planning on doing something bigger like witcher for example I know I could focus on that rather then 2 shorter games that barely fit the time just to inch in. Or even do witcher and then have to put aside a couple of hours to put in like a super short game. Theres been mention of how people like to look at everything which I'm certain a part o
Oh I saw the games you posted, like maya I've done both bayonetta and beyond two souls. Great games, still need to go back and complete the "bad" side of beyond two souls
VN time to 100% is so annoying. People just put the game on skip mode and then record that it takes 1 hour or whatever to complete it. Do you happen to know if proper read times are recorded somewhere? Minus having to guess by Steam reviews.
No idea, I know sometimes in the discussions people mention a length and I'm there like huh it took me half that time but yeah 10 hours seems fitting for a slow person maybe but thats not something that appears everywhere. With idling as well you cant trust steam reviews as I assume this 1 hour visual novel didn't take a couple of hundred hours but maybe they had to translate every single letter.
I would play Sweet Lily Dreams HLTB 14.5hrs
and Driftmoon HLTB 9hrs
Swapped out Pushcat as it didn't have a definitive ending.
Ooh, I'd be interested, though it will definitely depend on when the event starts. For the long stuff, I have three games I'd be interested in trying out (and another, shorter game):
Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun | HLTB
Shining Resonance Refrain | HLTB
Sunless Sea | HLTB
Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun | HLTB
Peaky Blinders: Mastermind | HLTB
As for game suggestions, may I suggest
I was just planning to play another of my won games so I'll pick Deus Ex Human Revolution. I guess it'll take more than 20h.
I'm fine with any light and interesting game for suggestions.
Sounds good. I played that recently, and really enjoyed it, have fun!
You might want to start soon ;)
I appreciate your attention.
Bittersweet. I'm sorry I couldnt make it, but glad for having participated.
There's going to be a consolation giveaway added for those who gave it a good attempt (as well as for those who completed).
probably i'll pick these two
Nexomon - 14½h
Batman: The Telltale Series - 8½h
backups to play with Nexomon
Bayonetta - 11½h
The Messenger - 11½h
Sunset Overdrive - 10h
Finished Nexomon today. I've had a lot of fun playing it, although it was somewhat easy until the last fights. There is a lot of cool designs of nexomons that I wish i could had a bigger party so i could use more of them. Seems like there is a lot to play in post game, i'll probably try to 100% in the next days xD
Yeah looks cool, glad you enjoyed it.
Completed Batman: The Telltale Series now, great game. I regret some choices i did in this game but maybe if I play it again someday I'll try to remember to choose some other better option. The first 10 minutes had several frame drops as I knew there were when it was released, but after that it runs all good.
Wish i had played this before the sequel. Still don't know why they put the sequel in a lower tier than the first game in an old bundle(that i couldn't pay for all the tiers :/)
I think Ill try depending on the event dates a combination of:
The outer worlds 12.5 Hours (done now took me roughly 20hours on hard difficulty)
Thief 11 Hours (done took me around 10 hours~)
My favorite dried mango, may I ask you to share opinion on Outer worlds, if you finish it before steam sale ends? I might shorten waiting on Elex II with it.
Haha hopefully this event starts soon then! Of course I don't mind but I must say my opinions usually boring and of the lines of "I enjoyed it" xD
You can always just tell me to finish Fallout series before :P
I played it for a little bit on Xbox Gamepass. Has the Mass Effect/Fallout/Halo vibes. Enjoying it so far, although it's very early game.
Haha Im not quite done yet but around 13 hours in enjoying the worlds and the comedy in the narrative. Haven't actually played fall out/mass effect before but heard similar things with comparisons. To get or not to get huehue depending on how much fallout you still have or if you want something new! ;)
Looks like I will wait with another game purchase, having some problems with playing my pick Dungeon rats. So many characters died in pain.. and yet it still haven't persuade me read a tutorial at start. Yesterday I read some guide and basic information about game and from quest list I realized I beated half game in one hour, so no matter, I will get there 😂
Haha they were good sacrifices it seems, goodluck with your games ^^
I hate you. What have you made me to do -.-
If it was a terrible choice i'll make it up to you somehow! :'(
I'm going for:
my giveaway suggestions are here
Interesting event. I want to participate with State of Mind and Sword Legacy: Omen. Tomb Raider can be the step-game if one of the first two doesn't fit.
Tomb Raider isn't eligible. The other two will be fine.
[update] Well, I failed in trying to fulfill this challenge. But it was fun anyway. : )
I'd like to participate with one game:
Dreamfall Chapters | HLTB 22+
