That is a valid idea. I considered it myself a few times.
The reasons I decided against it are:
I also look at groups like "Actually playing games" or "Playing appreciated" and frankly it doesn't look good.
They started well, but right now there are very very few quality giveaways in these groups, there is about 1 giveaway a month of a game I would actually want to play, and these get like 90+ votes.
Maybe it would be better if these groups had quality rules (like we do) or forbid shared giveaways. But then they would risk dying out, simply because no one would create any GAs.
I think people not hoarding games (entering GAs for the sake of it, but actually wanting to play the games) is very important, but on the other hand, not less important for the group to be active, and have many giveaways so people have more choices.
Having said that, I don't rule out this (or any other) ides completely. And there's a chance we may embrace it in the future.

We can for example, allow the GA creator to request the game to be played/finished within a set amount of time. and it will be the responsibility of the creator to see that the winner follows this rule.
The only question remains is: What will be the penalty?
Do we kick out a group member for not playing a game within a set period after winning it?

Leaving it to the GA creator's discretion might be best. If the person wins and doesn't play the game, they could get a warning and a 1-week extension. Another offense and/or a game still not played after the extension would mean a kick. The idea is to make entrants responsible and leave the game for other people if they can't or don't want to play it within the required timeframe. And that would force entrants to read the GAs descriptions. Time will tell if we need that sort of extra rules.

The thing is with the super popular giveaways.
A game like "Hollow Knight" got 66 entries last month.
Some people actually wanted to play it, while others just thought it would be cool to have it.
So the idea is, the GA creator can choose (it's completely voluntary) to require that the specific game he's giving away needs to be played/finished within X months.
Keep in mind it's hurting the GA creator as well - his GA will get less entries, and it's his responsibility to follow through and check that the game was actually played. So he has no interest of doing this, other than making sure the game ends up in the hands of someone who actually wants to play it.
In any case, nothing has been decided yet.
And I'm open to hearing other opinions as well.

Well been that winner I can tell you that I love the game only tested on my new monitor with the controller!
After I play some more TW3 this is the next game I play and probaly make a perfect game because it is fun as hell :D !

The only reason I'm with ~200 games right now, is at some point I realized there are games so far down my backlog, that I will never get to them because I'll always have new games I'll want to play more. So I stopped adding games to my Steam account altogether.
I currently only add games I plan to play in the immediate future.

I really liked the original 1/2, but you can't really compare them to 3+. Not because they're better/worse, simply because it's like comparing apples and oranges.
In the new (FPS ones) I think F:NV has the best story/atmosphere, but F4 definitely wins over in scope and graphics.
Like the fact that they needed to divide New Vegas city (which isn't that large) into 3 separate areas - "shudders".

Simply put, complexity.
First of all, I'm using SGMT to manage the group. It already has Steam integration. Adding metacritic integrating will take additional time and effort.
Secondly, between minimal GA rules, monthly rules and new member rules, we already have 8 score/reviews combinations for members to keep in mind. Even with the minimal addition of low/medium/high metacritic scores, it would raise the number of different combinations to 8 x 3 = 24.
And finally, I don't believe it would add much value beyond what we already have.

I'm a bit overwhelmed by the score / reviews combo, I just thought using Metacritic in lieu of all that (for the games that have a MC score) might be easier. Is there a tool that can automatically check whether a Steam game is good for either a QGG monthly GA or a non-monthly GA? Otherwise, I can try to come up with a flowchart of some sort and post it, maybe it will help me understand better & be useful to other people.

Such a tool wouldn't be very complex, although I personally haven't wrote anything like this myself. Didn't need it until now.
If you want, I can give some concrete examples, if it will help you understand.
Regarding Metacritic, it would require some research on scores good and bad games receive. In any case, Metacritic is lacking compared to Steam reviews. "Critic reviews" are usually paid for by the publisher, and cannot be considered objective. And there are much less user reviews. For example "RimWorld", one of the most wshlisted games on SteamGifts, exists since 2013, sold millions of copies, doesn't have a Metacritic score.

There are 2 sets of rules - general GA rules (for all GAs), and monthly GA rules. Obviously monthly are more strict that general - that's common sense, because monthly is part of "all" GAs.

I do love quality games as much as I like reading quality novels -- and I'd like others to be able to enjoy quality interactions as well. I still have a ways to go before reaching Level 3, and am still fairly new to SteamGifts, however I think posting this flowchart might help people understand QGG rules better.
Open the Steam Store page for your game -- you will need 3 pieces of information from it:
1) Game Price (US Dollars) before any discounts
2) Steam Overall Score: listed as a percentage. To find this score, hover over the text to the right of "ALL REVIEWS", usually it will be some blue text that says "Overwhelmingly Positive", "Very Positive", "Mostly Positive", or "Positive")
3) # of reviews for the Overall Steam Score -- found in the faint, gray-on-black text at the end of the line of "ALL REVIEWS" (it may help to highlight that text to read it better)

So however SteamGifts defines it, that's what I use.
AFAIK most games on Steam are $XX.95 / $XX.99 / $XX.00 - so no dilemma there.

Hi, I have found a site that shows the # of Steam reviews in a much more readable, Black-on-White text (vs. Steam's gray-on-black & black-on-gray text), here: Cheapshark.
Now that I can read those numbers, I'm happy to join QGG. I'm having trouble deciding which game would be most popular as a New Member GA though. Would appreciate some input! I have the following games:
The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings (Enhanced Edition) - I'm going through this game now, which I already own on GOG. Combat is great, nice graphics. NPC character development is great. And it has a Metacritic score of 88!
Scribblenauts Unlimited - I had thought this was the same game as "Psychonauts", which I really wanted to try (got Psychonauts now, it's a bit hard for me as a hand-eye game). I'm wondering about whether I should play this one. The storyline is "rescue the girl" (I really feel all these "damsels in distress" should just tough up and rescue themselves like everyone else -- imagine if everyone you met just expected you to come to their rescue without even trying to rescue themselves first?). I hear lots of people like these types of games though.
DmC: Devil May Cry - loved the original DMC on PS1, especially the character development & storyline; bought this one by mistake thinking it was the original. The gameplay is much better in this game, very high quality (I'm a big storyline person, less of a hand-eye person though). Good Metacritic rating of 85. Unfortunately, looks like this game only had 4 entries last time it was up on QGG.
Additionally, joining next month might be better option for me. I just hit Level 2 and feel like I need a breather from SteamGifts. I think mostly it's from realizing most of my public & discussion GA's have been won by autojoin programs and bots, rather than real people who appreciate the game. Those same autojoiners have caused me to win only 1 game since I joined about a month ago, when SteamGifts says I should have won 6 by now. When I joined SteamGifts, I thought this would be nice place to "swap" games -- now I am finding that I have been taken advantage of terribly by people using autojoiners, who are just hoarding games for card farming. I need a few weeks to digest that.

I'm ready to join QGG now, although I just realized I've entered in 2 Whitelist GA's that are also on QGG (Lara Croft GO & Shadowrun Returns) -- I should probably wait until the Whitelist GA's are over or it will look like I've joined QGG giveaways before my New Member GA ended!
My new member GA will be The Witcher 2. Looks like it had lots of interest previously (it really is great game, definitely a step up from Witcher 1 in terms of graphics & character control -- all without sacrificing character development or story that made Witcher 1 so great!).

[How to check if unredeemed / multiple Wins within just past year?] - Using SGTools (http://www.sgtools.info/activation) gives you all your data, and then you can see if anything from it happened within the last year.

QGG Python Script - Not quite right. It's a "tool" not script/scripts. It has a much larger scale and a backend. Also it doesn't perform (almost) anything automatically, it gives me (and other group admins) data about our groups, which greatly reduces the effort of managing them.

Hi, I think there is something strange going on in this group -- mainly since when I made my New Member GA for Witcher 2, a full member of the group made a GA for the exact same game almost immediately afterwards and then had it set to end before mine. Secondly, even though 7 people did not win that GA, a little less than half of them also chose not to join my GA for the exact same game, ending just 2 days later -- so it kind of indicates to me they didn't actually want the game. (They were online shortly after they lost the first GA, too, and had plenty of time to join for another chance at the game.)
So, I don't know what to say other than it seems that some group members violate your group rules by "unofficially blacklisting", and who knows what else some of them do. Unfortunately, if I made another New Member GA for a completely different game, I have the feeling that the same thing would just happen again and again. The fact that several group members are willing to go to such lengths to violate group rules without "officially" violating them indicates to me that there might be a deeper problem going on.
I'm thankful for your invitation to join your new group, however I'm being forced to have to decline it. I've added you to my whitelist, along with the other entrants to my New Member giveaway who entered both Witcher 2 GA's (and who actually really want the game) -- that way you guys can still enter my GA's for some quality games, and I can be assured that the winner actually wants to play them.

From your GA history, I see you usually give away very low quality games. I don't think any of them would fit basic group rules. Not to mention monthly GA rules (which are even stricter). You also didn't create any GAs in the last 7 months.
