The Origin versions of games don't need Steam to launch and most Steam games only use Origin for multiplayer, so I guess they practically work as two copies.

I think you could play both at the same time as Origin and Steam aren't connected directly like Uplay, which when you launch the game from Steam, it opens Uplay.

yeah, I think same. altho I dont really see why, since steam is x9999999999999999999999 better than origin

There was a thread somewhere (can't remember it) but as far as I remember it included Origin Humble Bundle Games. I can also confirm Alice Madness Returns can be activated on Origin if you own it on Steam.

On the library page of the game, click Show CD-key or whatever the option is called under the "Links" heading and use that key on Origin. Most EA games can be activated like this. Bulletstorm, Alice: Madness Returns, Dead Space, Crysis, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect are all confirmed to work (I've activated all of them myself except Alice so I'm not entirely sure about that one but apparently it does work too, some keys may require support intervention).

I can confirm that Alice: Madness Returns, Gatling Gears, and WARP have all worked for me.

Also, according to some comments I have read before: for those EA titles that don't give an Origin key from your Steam library, supposedly you can contact EA support & provide proof of ownership to have them manually add them to your Origin account.

I added dragon age steam key to origin. And then I bought ultimate edition, activated the dlcs via bioware account = played ultimate edition on steam.

While I was playing Kindoms of Amalur: Reckoning (bought it on a steam sale) I've entered the key of this game from the CD-key section in Origin and it redeemed another copy of it. Whenever I started it from Origin Steam started as well as it was installed in the steam folders, but the "advantage" was that the game progress was synched both with the steam and origin cloud

I think no :( You can't play multiplayer if you installed the game on both platforms -> for multiplayer one installation at any given time.

Couldn't you technically give someone your key to the game to redeem on origin, so they get a free copy?
