So I'm talking to my friend and we are reminiscing about who we saw perform live so I decided to ask who SG has seen.
I got to see -
The Rolling Stones
Meatloaf
Lamb of God
Dimmu Borgir
Goatwhore
Cannibal Corpse
The Haunted
Nocturne
Entombed
King Diamond
Gwar (twice)
God Forbid
Single Bullet Theory

So, who has Sg seen perform live?

I got to go to a bazillion free gigs when I was young and doing the interview/review thing. Since then, I've only averaged somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.5 concerts per year, so going to shows still feels like a new and exciting thing to me.

Qué? I'm not familiar with him outside of the last two drawing contests he hosted. Did I just list all of his favorites? I assure you we're not the same person--I can only draw stick figures. :<

LOL. I combed through my message looking for anything that could be mistaken for that kind of idiosyncrasy (and I considered replying "Well. No.", but figured the joke might not come across), but it didn't even occur to me that my list was what did it. Can you tell why I don't bother trying my hand at any of the logic quizzes on here? :P But that's great. Thanks for the laugh.

Another good list! I saw Carcass in a tiny club once - took a few days for my eardrums to recover - was brutal!
Gojira must have been good live? And I'm jealous having not seen Dream Theater yet. Oh wow - and Cryptopsy - one of my favs despite the new singer that many fans were not happy about.

Thanks! I haven't kept up to date with Cryptopsy at all, though I hear they eventually "found themselves" again with the new singer. Seeing them with him during the first year of his tenure was entirely forgettable, but seeing them with Lord Worm was great fun. That guy's a character. For me, Gojira were slightly sabotaged by the venue/soundmen; it was essentially a drum'n'bass show from where I stood. But I got to interview Joe Duplantier earlier in the day, and right as they went to walk off stage after their encore, he went "hey, it's you!" and pointed at me, so that made it worth enduring the bad sound. :D Carcass were great (new album this year, finally!), and the sound was just right at that gig, as I recall. I think Acid Mothers Temple and maybe Ministry have been the worst offenders in terms of loudness, although I screwed my eardrums up the worst myself when I decided to take my earplugs out 2½ hours into Dream Theater's set to "better hear" Metropolis, Pt. I...

Quite a few, not as impressive as some of the lists here, but the last live I went was Omnium Gatherum.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Steam Powered Giraffe
Creature Feature (though I don't know if they even do live shows...)

Ummm... I don't know who else... I don't enjoy live performances too much.

Only seen Black Sabbath so far. In 2013. Oh, and Fools Garden in 2003 when they came to the local brewery festival thingy in my small village. You probably know them from the Lemon Tree song. I mean... everyone does. They were(/are?) pretty much a one-hit wonder.

I've been doing at least one (usually more) summer festival(s) + concerts on the side (there's a venue at walking distance from me) for the last 10+ years so my list would be longer than my leg, but I'll include some of the highlights and bands that have great energy onstage and are worth paying to see, although I'm probably gonna have to trim that list too:

  • Lamb of God
  • Garbage
  • Trivium
  • Halestorm AND Alestorm (If Chris Bowes isn't TOO drunk)
  • DevilDriver
  • Amanda Palmer (solo and with Grand Theft Orchestra - hope to include Dresden Dolls one day)
  • Rammstein
  • Slipknot
  • JUICY (The Brussels-based duo, there's a couple of Juicys out there)
  • A Day To Remember
  • Parkway Drive
  • Skindred
  • Arcanus (singer has since left the band so IDK about now)
  • Korn
  • Combichrist (absolute highlight of my 2019 festival summer!)
  • Ministry (if they haven't done too many drugs that day I guess, I hear they're a mixed bag but I've seen them twice now and had a blast)
  • Killswitch Engage (once again, if Jesse's feeling it that evening I guess)
  • MaYaN ('Poupée de Cire, Poupée de Son' was a hilarious surprise, going into it I knew nothing about the band)
  • The Offspring
  • NOFX
  • Huntress - RIP Jill Janus
  • Just to boast: Motörhead while Lemmy was alive
  • Ghost (opening for Metallica)
  • Russkaja

Okay I'll stop now. I was gonna see Lingua Ignota, ADTR, Rammstein, Green Day, Weezer, Jinjer and a bunch of others this year, but Lingua Ignota cancelled before COVID for unrelated reasons and that turned out to be the first in a long list of cancellations :/

Hopefully next year!

When I saw Gogol Bordello I only heard one or two musics from them, I instantly fell in love with Gogol, they give a great concert, and a great vibe, after that concert I became a fan

I'm from Argentina. This is a list of some of the most well-known artists/bands I've seen, sorted by cronologic(ish) order:

2013:
-Major Lazer (at the Movistar Free Music festival)
-Of Monsters and Men (at the Movistar Free Music festival)
-Franz Ferdinand (at the Movistar Free Music festival)
-Korn

2015:
-Blur

2016:
-Eagles of Death Metal (at Lollapalooza '16)
-Of Monsters and Men (again) (at Lollapalooza '16)
-Tame Impala (at Lollapalooza '16)
-Marina and the Diamonds (at Lollapalooza '16)
-Die Antwoord (at Lollapalooza '16)

2017:
-Cage the Elephant (at Lollapalooza '17)
-Glass Animals (at Lollapalooza '17)
-The XX (at Lollapalooza '17)
-Metallica (I don't really like them, but they were headlining the festival I was in) (at Lollapalooza '17)
-Duran Duran (at Lollapalooza '17)
-Two Door Cinema Club (one of the best gigs I've ever been to) (at Lollapalooza '17)
-The Strokes (at Lollapalooza '17)
-Arcade Fire (at BUE festival)
-Kali Uchis (at BUE festival)
-Vince Stapples (probabbly the worst in this list, but I was just waiting for...) (at BUE festival)
-Gorillaz (at BUE festival)

2018:
-Death Cab for Cutie (at Personal Music 2018 festival)
-MGMT (at Personal Music 2018 festival)
-Lorde (at Personal Music 2018 festival)

And a huge ton of national bands, ranging from popular, mainstream bands like Virus or Miranda! to small, very under but amazing projects like ññññ and Gay Gay Guys. I love live music and have lots of musician friends, so I try to go to as many gigs as I can.

I was scared to go to shows, so the first show I went to was to see Ghost BC with my gf.

Then I was able to start going to shows that I was actually interested in, which means seeing Comeback Kid 3 times.

I also really like Bore and Silence Equals Death who I saw at the first cbk show I went to in New York.

And all the other concerts I planned to go to got canceled 'cuase of corona

I've seen so many, I'm unable to list them all. First one was Scorpions in the late 80's, after that... so many :-) From Bo Diddley to Overkill, from Maceo Parker to gipsy guitar gods almost nobody on SG will have heard of, from Einsturzende Neubauten to Dalek, Mike Patton, Marylin Manson (absolute crap by the way, I had the chance to attend a Dita Von Teese show which was WAY better !), the Wailers (big up to the Wailers musician who took back a friend of mine's pot from the security guy who stole it ! Yes it's a real story), David Krakauer and Amsterdam Klezmer Band, some salsa bands, many french bands...

I've only ever been to 2 of them: Beach Boys and David Byrne. They were both pretty good shows, but David Byrne was the real prize; I've always wanted to see him live, and I don't usually go for live music.
